I've had one of those lif-venture towels for the past coupld of years and I've not been that impressed.

Mark, is it one of the original Lifeventure Trek Towels or the (IMO) vastly superior "Soft Fibre" variety?

BTW, Lifeventure now do a Micro Fibre Trek Towel which hes a more conventional "towelly" feel.

I just take a flannel. Wash yourself with flannel, wring out, dry yourself down, wring out, dry etc. Takes almost all the water off, and the tiny remainder evaporates very quickly.

I got one of the Oswald bailey ones, about £10 for a medium as I thought my Lifeventure trek towel was too large - now relegated to car camping. No difference in performance and easily big enough. Dries you off and then dries out in no time.

On a longer trip where I might use the odd site with a shower I use the liner out of my sleeping bag (pertex) & a bar towel.

On backpacking trips when weight does matter I take a tea towel, one of the absorbent cotton Portugese type which works just as well as, and better than most of the above mentioned sort of so called trekking towels. I usually also take a standard household jcloth which will absorb a lot of moisture and dries quickly and weighs next to nothing.

I left mine in an airtight bag a little and found it just the other week covered in fiury things-lol-ihasten to add i putr it straight in the bin. I have to admit it was my own fault!

If you want them on the cheap when you afre at Aldi biuying the bargain gear-they sell roll of cloths made from the same material, they are undera £1 and you get about 5 or 6! I cleaned trhe windows with them lkast nmight and they were very absorbant so i would expect thewy would work on us humans-anyway thats what i'm carrying in future!
