I would like to know your opinion about the Vango Venom 300 and 400 down sleeping bags.

I see that they come with good prices, but I'm not sure about the quality. On the web I saw only reviews for older version of the bags.

Ive got the venom 400 and rate it for £100. I sleep quite cold sp it suits me in anything but a heatwave. Small packsize and reasonably light at 1kg as well.

So, did you use it at temperatures around freezing?

Did you lose down from it?

Ive only had it for around 6 months, no down lost but only had it down to around 5 degrees and it was fine then.

Hi i used to have the venom 300, to be honest i thought it was a cracker bag for the cost. I do however sleep warm & have slept quite well in -6 dressed. All that saying i would say that it doesn't have a differential down fill, meaning that the foot box baffles may have a good bit of down, but the chest baffles have the same amount (if you know what i mean?).
& the sitching at the side of the baffles came open, but i did use the bag for years every day use & didn't really look after it, so maybe with more care you may not have this problem? Last but not least, i didn't notice much loss of down, there was some at the beginning but it seemed to pass.
All in all if you are looking for a decent bag for a decent price i'd go for it or even look at the alpkit bags, never had one but they seem to get great reviews!

The problem with the Alpkit bags is availability. I've been waiting for a Pipedream 400 for ages.

It seems that PipeDream 400 would be available on November...

Anyway, there is a £45 and £30 difference between venom 300 or 400 and Pipedream 400. On the other hand, according to Vango website, the fill weight is different for top/base, so, it seems that this new version it is improved.

I intend to use the bag mostly for wild camping as I own a good 1.5kg synthetic bag to use for "regular" camping.

I have the 300 and it's a cracking sleeping bag, can't recommend it highly enough.
