Looking for a cheap-ish / lightweight-ish / very-reliable gas Stove / single-pot combination.

Criteria:
- For single person backpacking
- Stove and small gas canister must fit in pot
- Pot must have a lid that is secure
- Not that bothered about 'super-speedy' boiling times
- Ideal combination would be I think MSR Pocket Rocket and MSR Titan Kettle - would like to get a similar combination at a lot less cost
- Durability/reliability key

Many thanks, Simon

Have a look at the Coleman Exponent solo cook kit.Two sets of pans with lids you can use as a mug.I think you would get a small cylinder and a Gelert intensity [pocket rocket copy ] in the larger one .I picked one up at Planet Fear in Keswick for £10.If you google it there is a video on youtube about it.Gelert intensity can be picked up for about £12 - £13 if you shop about

A tibetan 700 or 900ml pot with a optimus foldable crux. OIptimus has also complete sets which fits 240 gram canister and their crux.

Not quite what you're after but just to give you something else to think about, I use a High Gear Blaze Titanium stove (50g and £25) and an unbranded aluminium kettle (around 150g and a few quid).

If all you're doing is heating water then a kettle is the best tool for it. Most of my hot meals are of the dehydrated variety so food goes in a ziplock bag, boiled water gets added and then food bag gets wrapped up in my sleeping bag.

I've found that this system is very easy to work with, requires no clearing up (you eat straight from the bag), reduces fuel cost (most of the cooking time requires no gas) and minimises how long you have to stare at your burner, so you can do more interesting things like drinking beer or reading. About beer. Or drinking and reading. Or drilking books. Or blubberghhfk....<snore>.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Got a £4.99 750ml anodized AL pot/lid combination and a £17.99 Colman F1 Lite from cheapo outdoor shop. Fits with small gas cylinder / teabags and coffee nicely. Thanks, Simon
