Basically i'm looking for a mid lenght boot sutiable for fast hiking + steep hill walking, maybe bit of scrambleing. (sometimes over a few days) I want it to be very water proof for boggy ground but as breatable as possiable (prob gor-tex is my best bet?). budget is around £100, could go just over maybe.
So, Any thoughts or recomendations anyone, my mate has just bought some asolo flames which he seems happy with but not really heard of asolo, they any good?
Get down to a specialist shop, tell them what you want them for and let them do the rest. After having my last pair of boots fitted properly I wouldnt do it any other way now. Went in with one brand in mind, came out with something completely different.
Having said that, my summer boots are the salomon Quest 4dGTX and I love em.
Asolo boots are very good, but as Craig said make sure they fit your feet. Fit and comfort are much more important than anything else when buying new boots.
I had a pair of Salomon quest boots and loved em until the goretex failed, they would have exchanged but I had allready had enough of linings failing by this point so went for unlined leather instead, which is annoying because the salomons were everything I wanted in terms of comfort There's nothing to say you will be unlucky though and they were good as gold on the warranty.
Cool, thanks for your thoughts and advice. I'll try a specialist shop and see what advice they have to offer. Any recomendations where to try around nottinghamshire way?
Not sure about in Notts Chris, I went up to Keswick! I believe that Cotswold and Ellis Brigham offer a proper boot fitting service, but other than these two, in my experience, it tends to be the smallre/ independent retailers that offer the service.
