I know its the wrong time of year for this but does anyone know of any shorts going that are similar to the fit and length of the Montane Terra Alpine Shorts?
Would be great for some options. Needing some new ones, not a great fan of walking or climbing in trousers!
May want to look at Patagonia GI II shorts and/or Patagonia Scrambler short(s)---have two pair of GI II's and like 'em---nylon, light (260g)---cool in warm weather---comfortable---dry quickly---three pockets (2 front---one back and one on right leg)---only niggle is the single rear pocket is slightly shallow and a wallet will pop out if not zipped---don't own the "Scrambler" but unlike the GI II is treated with a DWR---oh yeah, like most Patagonia stuff, can be expensive---may want to look for sale(s)---can go to Patagonia site and find the "web specials" portion of the website
If you can run to them, the Haglöfs Lizard soft shell shorts are very good. Not sure how they compare to the Montane Terras, but on me, they're sort of medium loose fitting and just around knee length, not too short or too long - most outdoor shorts seem on the short side btw. Obviously though, that depends on the length of your thighs...
For walking, running shorts give far better freedom of motion so are easier to walk in. No pockets and don't cover your thighs, but light, cheap and very fast drying.
Thanks guys, will give them a look and tell you the outcome Guaranteed that the majority of places wont have stock, but hopefully XL this year would have been unpopular.
