For car camping you can get a lot more space than the Nordisk. You can go for standing room, or at least "sat in a deckchair" room.
At a week-long orienteering event in 2006 Roos had a Tarra (similar inner dimensions to the Nordisk, but withoiut a drop away from the middle and substantially bigger porches) to herself for most of the time, but it was still looking pretty cramped compared to all the family tents around it.
True enough. I think any tent designed to be carried in your rucksack will be compromised on size. However it is a lot better than my Vango Spectre 200 which is my existing car camping tent. I should really get a £75 vango I've seen on offer at a small local camping and caravanning shop near me. Can't remember which a something 350. Loads of space as 3 man and only £75. Just not a winter tent really nor one for moving with.
My liking of the Nordisk, apart from the £187 price tag, is the 130cm internal height. I am really only used to about 90cm at the most (less with the dangly gear loft and TBS system that is at the highest point). 40cm improvement in height for me is a good thing. I did once measure my height when sat on the floor and the 130cm would be ok. First carryable tent that I could sit up in. Comparable in height to a mate's quasar I once chilled out in for a few hours one evening in a storm. Actually, just been on TN site and the Quasar is only 105cm height!! That does surprise me somehow. The internal length is only 217cm too. The Nordisk has 230cm internal length and 130cm height. Also quasar is 4.3kg compared to either 3.4 or 3.8kg for the Nordisk. Less porch in the Nordisk.
Anway all this is not really of interest to the OP who is trying to get a geo at under 2kg to save weight on his Grid. It is not like me to digress!!
Or get a Scarp without the crossing poles: still pretty tough...
Yes 1.9kg. Hilleberg and lightwave are bringing out new tents next year. Pity it won't be in time for Christmas
The new Hillies are dedicated 3 season with lots of mesh and flys that don't get to the ground. So even if they were here for Christams I don't think they're the beasts for this job.
I'm interested to see what Lightwave have up their sleeves since they'll apparently do fly-first or all-in-one. My issue with the current designs is they're all inner-first, which I'm not a fan of.
