I am replacing my Thermorest pro light 4, as I had a lot of good camps this summer using a Neo Air. So I am looking for a winter sleeping mat, under 600g, that rolls down as small as the Neo air and a synthetic filling not down. Also one I can inflate without using my own breath.

Any ideas?

Nothing rolls down as small as the neoair. The other specs would suggest exped synmat or similar.

Maybe the neo-air all season but I think there may be another even better on it's way.

Synmat 7 UL. I find em much nicer to sleep on than the neoair, and it looks like they're lighter than the neoair all-season.

Insulated mats are inherently bulkier than uninsulated ones, on account of having a wad of insulation in them. Don't expect to find any that pack down to the same size as a super-small packing uninsulated mat like the neoair!

There is a better warm neo air on its way fairly soon (~January.). Do a search for Neo air x-therm for reports from the outdoors shows this year.

Seems like it should actually undercut the requirements on weight and hit everything else. It won't be cheap of course.

Is the synmat UL warm enough at 3.1? Not totally sure with the Neo already quite close to that. Downmat UL will be very nice of course.

Very very curious what the X-therm will do compared to the new and yet unreleased Exped downmat 7 UL

I'm holding out for the UL Downmat. I find the vertical baffles much more comfortable.

Yup I've both (neo and exped down) but the exped is indeed more comfortable. So if the weight differnce is not in the 100th of gramms i'll choose the exped down UL as my next mat

The POE Peak Elite AC is in the same weight range as the TAR NeoAirs of similar dimensions and was very comfy the one night I've used the one I bought a few weeks ago. It feels appreciably warmer than the NeoAir and would probably do for most UK winter stuff -- obviously not as warm as a Downmat, but a lot lighter. It has the "tubes" running lengthways rather than across and it's coffin-shaped rather than rectangular, neither of which bother me but might put others off. Impressed so far, but a bit early to give it the full thums-up yet.

+2, only tried in shop, but feels nice to sleep on.

I need/want a 'short' so have to wait till in stock.

Weighs less than the current TR I use up to  -9cish and pcks to same size or a wee bit smaller.

For temps. that may be lower than that I'll use an Exped 7 syn. or down, got both.

I've just returned my Peak Elite AC due to it deflating in use. On contacting the retailer it appears they have had several of the regular sized mats back for leaking. I stuck mine in the bath and found two tiny holes in the seam near the valve. Seamgrip appeared to repair them but after leaving it inflated with a suitcase on top overnight, it was flat again in the morning.

I've ordered a Big Agnes Insulated Air Core mat from the US to replace it.

Cheers guy's. The Neo x-therm looks good, as doe's the Exped syn ul 7. Exped is available now so could be in my Santa sack for Christmas and in use January.
