£45 - worth it??

I realised that I need a slightly bigger  sack than my excellent (and very cheap) Alpkit gourdon 20 litre drybag rucksack. Basically I have started carrying a little bit more gear in winter and changed the way I load kit and carry food/drinks. It means more is being carried inside.

Anyway, I am still looking for a light sack. The gourdon is actually about 600g so this Golite Peak in large is about 764g IIRC so not that much more considering it has better features to it. I can't go for the larger gourdon 30 because they seem to think once you get a bigger sack than the smallest gourdon 20 you no longer want those mesh side pockets or the bungee compression cords on the outside. I really don't understand that. I mean the pockets  are perfect for litre bottles/flasks and snacks. You can access on the go too. With a 25 or  30 litre sack they are just as useful IMHO.

I am tall (6'5") with an average torso length for my height. Anyone know if the peak would be comfortable on me? I am used to the drybag style roll-top closure from the Alpkit sack but is the golite closure as good?? I thought I read somewhere that someone had problems with leakage. rolltop closure works well with drybags but I am concerned that the golite ones are not like those closures.

The volume looks good at 38 litres. In fact it is a bit big but the weight of the sack is still good so I might as well have a slightly empty sack since the weight is no penalty. I could end up trying overnighters with it even so more versatile. In summer and warmer times I will still use the alpkit sack as it is so good but now I need the larger volume. So any advice on the Golite Peak? £45 for any sack at the 25 to 40 litre capacity and a light weight seems a bargain to me.

Yeah it seems a bargain to me as well, i think the Peak is just a 40litre Jam (which is excellent).

I have an old version Jam 50 for overnighters, i was tempted by the Peak as well as i could easily use a smaller bag...but the Peak is heavier than my old Jam so it wasnt worth it.

Note my comments on other thread re top of sac - I'm delighted with the mod to mine.  Re length, I'm 6'2" and have the large - it's fine.  I never use a hipbelt, certainly not on a daysac, so being able to remove it is useful.
