I am considering buying a North Face Five point jacket online and was wondering if you kind people could help me out with a few things?
First off, can anyone give me advice on whether this is a good waterproof to get for cold and wet weather? I live in Ireland, so rain will always be an issue, but I'm also going to Nepal/Tibet in Feb/Mar so I will be using it in cold conditions as well.
If there are any others that are better please let me know your opinion!
I've heard that the 2010 model had a few problems with leakage in the underarm vents so if I do buy it I would like to get the 2011 model. I'm finding it hard to determine whether the models online are from 2010 or '11 so I was wondering if anyone knew the different colours for the 2010 and '11 models?
The North Face Point Five Jacket has received good reviews from Jon of OM on this site so it should be a reasonable choice. As far as colours/differences between 2010 and 2011 models may be worth looking on the Official TNF website. The TNF website would normally only feature the current version.
Personally, I wouldn't buy any North face gear mainly due to the fact that it's very expensive for what it is. Why not something made of eVent by Rab or Montane or Neoshell by Rab.
I find Goretex isn't all its made out to be, especially in terms of breathability. Totally impressed to date with my Rab Stretch Neo jacket and superior compared to goretex proshell
@Martin, I'm not worried about it being lying around, just that I read that the older models had problems with leakage, I think the underarm zips weren't sealed, but that they are in the 2011 model.
