Tried petrol - not shifting it, neither is carb cleaner or WD40. It's very strange, was given a couple of bottles of what I assumed was petrol but could have been diesel I guess but it did burn easily with the petrol jet. Years of fettling two strokes and I've never seen such horrid goo.

John - I use a mini burner made by Captain Paranoia from a couple of small cans.

There are lots of threads about this system on OM...

Here... here... and here.

Given what you've tried may be worth dropping in an ultrasonic cleaner if you have access to one (Aldi & Maplins do cheapies) maybe with teapoon of citric acid.  Diesel shouldn't leave crap like that.

well  i got a result using an old  anti gravity gear Pepsi can stove from the agg cook set the cook set i have i wont be using but i tried the stove/burner with the trangia mess tin and cut the titanium foil windscreen in half and FANTASTIC IT WORKS it boiled 600mil of cold water in about 11.10min.but i must say that in the past when i used the agg stove i cooked a full English breakfast on a Tibetan titanium plate Ala Jamie Oliver style  talk about a great stove .So that is the set up i might bring to the cumbria way in february/march

It's no wonder this place has the nickname OutdoorsTragic with many lurkers.  For our activities this has got to be the least insignificant part by far.
