Just a small note to Paul Cummings and the rest of the folk who kindly offered advice on the Meindle Lhotse GTX boots. I have had mine for nearly two months now and they've been fantastic! They've been blasted up and down more than a few Munros over the last few weeks and have proved to be truly superb. I would just like to thank everyone for their input and recommendations.
The boots have been wonderful on classic Scottish 10hr+ days, scrambles and the occasional bog-trot too.I did discover that lacing them was the real key to success. Too tight and the boots needed regular adjustment, however by leaving them slightly on the loose side, the memory foam worked its magic and the boots truly came into their own. Fit was excellent, and with no risk to general support around the foot or ankle. I would highly recommend these boots to anyone interested in good long mountain days and more adventurous routes. Thanks again to all who put in their tupence worth. Great job.
Glad you like the Lhotses. I really should follow my own advice. I've just come back from taking a group to Dartmoor for a few days. I wore my Riachle MT Guides rather than the Lhotses and came back with sore feet. Nothing terminal, just general feeling of soreness, like when you've over trained or something and your muscles are letting you know they've had enough. Once sorted with the Lhotses I never got this.
Mind you, my pack weight was quite heavy - the heaviest I've had for probably 15 years, which may have contributed.
