I'm going to either buy a Coleman unleaded lantern rated at 300c.p (about 175watts) or a Tilley Lamp rated at 600c.p (arount 300+watts).

I prefer the Tilley lamp but the decision is ultimately a fuel issue.

From what I understand the Tilley only burns Parrafin while the Coleman can take Unleaded.

The last time I used Parrafin in the UK (a time ago) you could walk onto any Filling station forecourt and find a Parrafin Pump. I'm not so sure this is the case now? Can anyone comment?
What about Parrafin availability in the rest of Europe?

The only place I can find paraffin now is Forcus DIY stores but it is expensive at about £5 for 5 litres.

If you can ifnd a traditional local hardware store yo can usually get paraffin there.

Robert Dyas do paraffin. Not sure on the price though.

Most garden centres will sell it; paraffin still popular for greenhouse heaters.

They also sell lamp oil.

In Europe - it varies from country to country and region to region, but paraffin/lamp oil can be found in supermarkets and village general stores in some places.

Some petrol stations sell it in five litre bottles.
Keep an eye out for stations that sell loads of BBQ goods on a stand outside - often a tell tale sign.
It's been a year or two since I last bought any but I don't remember it being pricey.
