Hello,

I'm looking to get a camera tripod (or a monopole would be better) however I would also like a walking pole so I was thinking about combining the two.

Does anyone know of any poles that are made with camera attachments on them or kits that can mount a camera onto your standard walknig pole.

On this model the ball at the top screws off to leave a camera mount (don't know the thread size sorry but I think its pretty standard) giving you a monopod.

Brasher do a model (Hillmaster Guide)where the ball on top unscrews to leave you with a standard camera screw fitting. Completely extended it is about 1.4m which I find a bit short as a monopod.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll go with a regular walking stick and get a mono as well. Cstly and weighs more but I begin to think thats the best way.

I've got a Brasher mono pole - sounds a bit like the one Dave mentions - there's a round cork top that unscrews to leave a standard thread mount.

It's more of a metal walking stick than a pole, with the round knob.

I've got an old Leki walking pole with a thread on (which is standard for all cameras by the way) perfect and much more durable than a monopole.

I wouldn't advise getting a monopole as well, as you'll end up getting cross at having to deal with two cumbersome things, but in the end its your money.

I bought an Ultrapod. It not only fixes to a walking pole but also branches, posts etc and acts as a tripod. Might be worth thinking about??

Take a look at the Gitzo GM2561T monopod, it weighs only 300g and folds down to 36cm. Ideal for putting in a small rucksack.
