Just see what you can get, I picked up a Kangaroo Poo hat with a brim and neck sheet for a fiver, does the job brilliantly, except for some Americans who thought i was an aussie.

My fiance uses a 'Jacaru' Austrailian leather hat bought from the Great Yorkshire show for about £35.
I use a South African 'Rouge' hat bought from http://www.unbeatentracks.com
These are both truly excellent hats. They are a little more than your budget but if you can stretch to them they are worth every penny.
I've had my 'rouge' for 4 years now and despite been stood on by a cow, run over by a Land Rover and generaly treated roughly it is still 100% waterproof and with a bit of saddle soap on the leather looks like it has still just come out of the box.
Thses hats can be bought in ANY size for a perfect fit and i can't recommend them highly enough.
