Thanks guys. Back fron Fisherfield this morning where my headtorch had packed up in use. Fortunately I carry an e-light as a spare. Turn to this sight to see what is suggested, and here it is. What wonderful service! Bid gone into ebay on an Myo XP. Now don't any of you go out bidding me!

We've been though this before. Tikka XP usually wins and for good reason!

I do a bit of off-road running in the dusk or dark at this time of year and have been using a Petzl Myo for the last two years - it's a great light but I have just bought a Rayovac Highbeam on ebay (as a spare, for £18) and it blows it away!  I don't know whether it is of the same build quality and I don't really know how long the batteries last (I ran for half an hour and didn't notice any deterioration).  The beam is rather more narrow but it is fine for running.  Has anyone else used one of these?

I think I'm going to have to agree with the masses here - the Myo XP is definitely a top torch!

In terms of brightness to weight ratio it is pretty much the winner. It's not too heavy to have on your head for a prolonged period of time and it lasts for ages, especially if you use the dimming settings wisely.

If you want more energy at your finguretips, you could even go fo the Myo Belt with a seperate battery pack on a waist attatchment. Although this does seem a little over the top to start with, it does mean that the weight of the batteries istaken off your head.

On a similar idea, the the Tikka XP is brilliant for lightweight use as it needs no battery pack. I even use this when running at night and it gives off enough light for most tracks.

Cheers from the guys at www.climbers-shop.com

i like my myo bit i reckon it could do with a red flip down lense cover to make it truly excellent so that it doesnt ruin yor night vision.
