Hi! all have been a member for a while but this is my first post.
I need to know if anyone out there sells gaiters for the larger calf, I have tried all the XL sizes in all the major makes, I would like Gortex if possible and am willing to pay for made to measure.

Cheers! Brill site.

I haven't tried them myself but theres a company on ebay that do made to measure breathable/waterproof gaiters:

Don't know what they're like but might be worth a look.

May also be worth contacting Slioch Outdoor Equipment

http://www.slioch.co.uk/

They do made to measure gear, a friend of mine used them and was impressed with the service.

I'd second the Slioch option, great kit if a little heavy.

Another option would be the likes of Cioch Outdoors:

Who also do made to measure but with Paramo kit.

Mark.

I've never used them but http://www.extremeoutdoorclothing.com/ also do made to measure kit.

There's no sign of gaiters on the website but it may be worth giving them a ring just in case they can help.

Have you tried Trailwise gaiters? have a look at www.trailwise.co.uk I use the Canvas snolock gaiter it's bomb proof better than anything else I've used, mine have had years of abuse at work and play and these babies come in XL 46 cm calf.
You won't win any points for making a fashion statement, but for solid reliable performance these gaiters are the daddy.
I've spent days kicking through Bramble and brash, heather,Bracken, scree, in fact any shite you can think of, A gortex gaiter would have shredded years ago.

Off the topic of large gaiters: Finally some proper short gaiters that aren't out of stock.

Thank you Matt C / Mark Fraser!!

Drifting further, I'm really impressed with Pete's post, I never thought I'd see a eulogy to gaiters!

As gaiters are the spawn of the devil, what does that make Pete!

Pete is the Devil's Plaything. He went to the crossroads and sold his soul in return for an ability to shout the blues and have gravel-free boots for eternity.

Paramo gaiters are quite large, in fact when I tried them on I had to really tighten then!

Must be worth a look. They've got to work better than your desired GoreTex gaiters though. I own Goretex ones and they're frankly a bit crap unless you like wet legs.

Hi! All thanks for your help, slioch have informed me they can do a made to measure gaiter for £27.95 inc p@p in Gortex and they are even sending me colour samples, I think that this is a fantastic service.

Gaiters!
Any one had any experiences with the gaiter(s) by Hagloff? They do two types in their range both with 'wire' cord under the boot apparently adjustable, sounds great in theory i.e. won't wear out as quickly. They are quite expensive, but look great quality. Hagloff gear usually is very light wieght too. Not seen any of these gaiters in the shops in uk though, anyone ever had a pair and where can I find them without mail order direct from Hagloffs?
