I'm off to scotland at the same time as the challenge, but going north to sutherland.

I'm "champing at the bit" looking at these blue sky,sunny webcams and it's been so good for so long - you just know whats going to happen !

The long range forecast for the highlands (normally less than useless) says its going to become more unsettled - come on, give us at least a few decent days to get started.

Btw - good luck to everyone doing the TGOC - look forward to reading about your experiences.
And don't forget the podcast too! ... ;-)

What are you planning this year Bob ?

The TGO Challenge seems to be fixed in May for a number of reasons; one of them was that May was a reasonably settled month. Roger Smith (event co-ordinator) said, last year, that he thought the weather was definitely changing and that May was becoming a more unsettled month.

Last year's Challenge was supposed to be pretty bad weather-wise which I found re-assuring as - so long as you stayed reasonably low - it wasn't too bad.

No doubt Bob's bought another memory card for the HD recorder. I suspect we can expect 20 podcasts this year rather than two :-)

Traditionally the weather has always been good in early May (ie - not too wet), but it always seems to have been preceeded by bad weather upto the end of april. I'm a little concerned that scotland might have used up its quota of good weather by the time we arrive ! Still, it's all part of the experience :-{

Just look at this to see what we are missing

Yes, at the moment it does indeed look like turning much more unsettled next week, although at least this weekend should be reasonable.

Possibility of high pressure moving back in over the UK by mid month though.

And it doesn't look like turning cold enough for snow.

It's on skye looking over to the knoydart peninsula. One of my favourites and you don't often get it looking like this.
Oh its that one, ha ha I do know the one but yes like you say it is rare to get that view on it, no wonder I didn't recognise it first time!

I think I can tell you when the weather will turn; when I step off the ferry in Mull next Wednesday morning ;)
I never realised you were going next week mate! Nice one!
