Arnside & Silverdale AONB

Another walk around the Hawes Water & Leighton Moss area yesterday. A very dull day to start but brightening later. I thought after many years walking this area that i knew it fairly well but yesterday I found out something new.

My Favourite Pictures

I've felt a bit cr*ppy for the last few day, possibly something to do with the new medication for the Rheumatoid Arthritis. However it as giving me time to catch up with this section of the website which shows my favourite picture from each walk along with a link to each walk.

Visions of Cumbria

We have had the two eldest grandaughters to stay over the weekend and were hoping to take them for a walk with us. However the weather conspired against us and so no walking!!!!
However it gave me the opportunity to update the "Visions of Cumbria" section with two new entries. The first, from around the Keswick/Derwentwater area are my own pictures and the second are some pictures sent in by a a regular website visitor of a walk in the Rusland valley in the south of the county including a visit to Rusland Church where the author Arthur Ransome of "Swallows and Amazon" fame is buried. Pictures are now available for those wishing to view.

25th June 2008

It had been a dull grey day here on Wednesday with a few showers and
the forecast for Thursday could only promise rain so when around 4:30pm
it started to brighten I decided to pop up the road to near Carnforth
for a walk up Warton Crag and across Leighton Moss.Although a bit
patchy at first it turned into a wonderful evening. Two Ospreys have
been sighted at Leighton Moss recently. Those who know more than me
think that they are young pair and are hoping that they will return in
the future to breed. Afraid I never saw them though
Pictures for those wishing to view are now available.

Dave

Although I hadn't intended having a walk anywhere today it was far too nice a morning to miss so after I dropped Edith off at her brothers I made my way to the Crook O'Lune car park near Lancaster for this short walk. Pictures for those interested are now available on the website.

8th July 2008

NW England

I had hoped to go walking earlier in the day after dropping the boss lady off at her brothers but the weather had conspired against me. The forecast gave brighter weather later so when the sun popped out around 3pm I set off or Arnside. Unfortunately by the time I got there the sun had decided not to play and it was as dull as ever but did stay fine. Just a shortish walk with dark broody clouds in the main. For those wishing to view the pictures are now available on the website.

15th July 2008

NW England

A late start yesterday as I had to pop into the Rheumatology Clinic to
see the nurse there. Therefore it was nearly noon when I set off from
Conder Green to Glasson Dock on the Lancashire Coastal Way. I followed
the LCW through Glasson and down the River Lune as far as Bank Houses
visiting Cockersand Abbey along the way before taking a mixture of
field paths and farm lanes back to Glasson and then the car.
7.5 miles of fairly flat walking (150') but a very pleasant afternoon.

Pictures, for those wishing to view are now available on the website.

Dave

Can't take any credit for these pictures I'm afraid as they were sent to me by some friends of a walk they did a couple of weeks ago. Thought they may be of interest to anybody thinking of visiting the area.
The pictures are located in the "Other Pictures" section and the link is highlighted in yellow.

No walk I'm afraid yesterday as I was feeling a wee bit under the weather. We did however catch up with a bit of shopping that ad ben long overdue. First it was to a rather damp but still quite busy Bowness where after a walk around Cockshott Point we visited "Love the Lakes". Unfortunately Sean was out with Casper but we did meet Louise. From Bowness we nipped up the road to Ambleside where whilst Edith went for a new pair of boots I had a quick walk up to Stockghyll Force. The pictures are now available, located in the "Visions of Cumbria" section of the website.
