looks like a pile of crap to me.if you look around on the net you will find the vango tempest 200 which may be a bit dearer but a much better tent for mountain use.good tent there you go.much better than the coleman.i know its heavier but it will stand up to heavier winds and will be better in the rain. for the price range, i dont think you will get better.

I again second the tempest 200 awesome tent, drop us a line if ya have any questions about it

.jpg) I would tend to agree with Ray here. I have an Avior X2, although it is a really nice tent, well made and hasn't caused me any problems at all I wish I had gone for the Tempest (a friend has one) I find the extra space in the vestibule better. The Avior is lighter though. Coleman make good quality budget price tents - if you buy one you will not be disappointed with the quality.

What Ray and Simon said! The Tempest is a wee belter, It is a little heavier but the quality is top notch and they take hideous weather really well. Like ray I dont think you will get better either. You can always lighten the weight a little by upgrading the pegs and changing the guy lines.

I was very seriously thinking of one of the little Coleman tents too, but changed my mind about a month or so ago, having found no one that I knew having much at all good to say about Coleman kit for serious backpacking kit! Rather everyone seems to reckon them as good stop-gap kit, spare emergency kit, and general all round basic camping kit-for use outside of winter weather, and all especially useful in the summer and autumn time here in the UK. Having heard that just so many times it has pretty much put me off buying now any Coleman tents or sleeping bags especially! I still think much else they do is of value though, and anyone who has seen one of those big Coleman camping stores in the USA will know just how much outdoors kit they do indeed retail under the Coleman brand name! As for that tent in particular though, I feel that the fellas above are all really right in what they're saying there. As you can just for a few quid more spent get just so much more tent it seems for the price! At the same company there even http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/5023518596389 you can for the exact same money get a much better Vango tent too! The Vango Banshee 200 Mountain tent is now on my possibles list, replacing that Coleman one, and seems of the two a much better tent. Let down only it seems, to the displeasure of a few good fellows on OM here, with its lack of porch storage space.

http://www.norwich-camping.co.uk/product_details/Vango_Tempest_200_08_Model/5378.html Slightly cheaper price for the Vango Tempest 200 mentioned, and with free postage offered too! It is another on my "possibles for purchase this year tent list", but I remain somewhat distinctly undecided at the moment overall; as there are one or two other lightweight tents worthy of consideration I feel, and I'm looking at those first off as well! I probably will not buy till much nearer the summer now anyways!

i used to have a coleman cobra 2 which looks exacty the same as the vango banshee and it was not very good in windy weather.there were no guy lines on the side.

 |
Thanks for all the advise, i tried out the Vango Banshee 200 in store and found that there is very little head room, but i might go back for a closer look. i like the look of the Tempest but its a bit on the heavy side for 1 person to carry, at the moment i'm using an old vaude hogan but it over 3kg again to heavy. i also like the look of the Wild Country Solace, but every web site i visit states a diffrent weight, what do you guys think of these?

i created a forum asking people to decide for me between the tempest and the solace and no one recommended the solace. make of that what you wil, but i love the tempest
|
 |
I think I remember hat thread Simon, I'm sure I yet again put my tuppence worth in for the Tempest, but to be fair I have absolutely no experience of the Solace so cant/couldnt comment. I dont think I have ever heard anyone put the Solace down though.

http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/forum/forummessages/mps/dt/1/UTN/21633/V/8/SP/ I just thought it might help some to link the two current Vango tent threads, as they are indeed kind of covering much of the same ground, it sure seems to me!

http://www.uksportsandfitness.com/product_info.php?products_id=11245&ID=107 I just don't much like even the basic design look of the Solace, sorry! edit-nb-I must say though, that the pictures on the specs seem to say it is a one to two person tent, but depict it usually as far as I have noticed with a single sleeper within only; so I think it might be a bit crowded for a two person use, with gear thrown in too maybe!

i recieved on e mail later on recommending the solace but in hindsight the tempset is a far more suitable tent, especially if you like to spread yourself out a bit!

What do you think of the Hoy then from Wild Country though then Simon? http://www.norwich-camping.co.uk/product_details/Wild_Country_Hoy/3751.html

the hoy looks ok but dont forget the tbs system in the tempest for extra stability.

It was originally a 2003 design wasn't it, the Hoy?
