I mean Sat the 14th or Sun the 15th. Either suits me.

I might come, depending on a) whether I can fit in with the plans, and b) the weather. From the Grey Mare's Tail to the Devil's Beef Tub is quite a good walk but we'd need to leave a car at the end. Ideally, I'd like to go down on Friday night (it's light until stupid o'clock at this time of year) and get onto White Coomb to camp then finish the walk on Saturday morning. If the Beef Tub is too far, perhaps just a stroll to Hart Fell? We could drop down via Swatte Fell but I'm not sure about parking near Capplegill. Alternatively, we could walk out round the top of Loch Skeen to get back to where we started.

Err, I just read the first page. Is anybody going then? And would anybody prefer a campsite over a wild camp? Speak up, people!

Right Im deffo going down for a wildcamp down that way this weekend Jim. If heading down on Fri then camping late and finishing the walk on Sat suits you better then Im happy to do that. I havent seen the Beef tub so I'm up for that also. Dunno about the parking at Capplegill but there is a big carpark at the foot of the Greymares tail.

Here's a photo of the Beef Tub. > Dunno about the parking at Capplegill but there is a big carpark at the foot of the Greymares tail. There is indeed but it's a fair way to there from Capplegill. Alan Hall's The Border Country (thank you, Google book search) suggests there's limited parking on the verge near the farm. None of that matters if you're heading for the Beef Tub anyway though. I take it we're just down to two people then? I'll check if I'm going to be able to get away ...

Edit: I didnae see your post there. Well, 'Nanafeet turned up despite the "Mad Jim" moniker and a pirate picture making him wonder a bit. There was a bit of a cool breeze but no rain and we got a comfy seat for a dram. Rounded things off with a late breakfast in Moffat. 'Twas grand.
