Terroc 330 great shoe for walking, but could do with a bit more underfoot cushioning and the mesh upper wears faster than I'd like. I'm on my 3rd pair, used happily for everything from Scottish bogs to the PCT in WA. Roclite 295 has, as far as I can tell, the same size toe box as the Terroc 330 (they seem just as roomy), but more underfoot cushioning and a different sole (better?). I need 0.5 size larger in these compared to the Terrocs. From limited use so far I'd say I prefer the 295s for hard trails because of the cushioning, for soft ground nothing to choose I'd say. Too early to say if they will last as long/longer than the Terrocs.

Zubland is right as far as I can see the 295 has the exact same uppers as the Terror. I have had the 320s which seem to be the beefed up version of the 305s and I have to say I was not impressed with the toe box (or the ankle for that matter)

I had a look at some 305s today, and the toe box looks a bit flimsy, to say the least! I can't imagine that it will protect toes from a bashing on a rocky descent, which is a shame, as the terrocs are very good in that respect. Anyone who can advise? So far, it's between the mizuno harrier WT and the 305...

 And the 295.

I tried on a pair of Roclite 315's today. Length wise, a size 10 was perfect. They were almost wide enough. They were the only size 10 Inov8's in the shop i could try on. I'm going to order either a pair of 295's or 305's online as they seem to be a wider fit. Hopefully the size 10 will still be perfect in these models as well? Is one of these models more suitable than the other for general hillwalking and backpacking?

Although the Roclite 305 is supposed to be made on the same last as the Terroc, I've understood that they are still a bit narrower in the front due to the different upper construction. The Roclite 295 uses a very similar upper construction as the Terroc though so should fit nearly the same.

Thanks tom. That's enough time wasted. I'm off to order a pair of 295's.

Well done Mike I'm sure you will love them

I like the look of the 305's as they have the same cushioning as the 318, i.e. a bit more than the 315's!! And my mums just offered to buy me some! I'm 40 years old and she still cares about my feet .

One pair of Roclite 295's ordered. Thanks for the help and advice.

I tried on the Wave Harriers today, and then bought a pair - what a comfy fit! It remains to be seen if they are protective enough around the toe, but the guy in the shop said he wore them, and so far it hadn't been an issue. I'll save judgement on that until I've done the three peaks in 'em, that last trot down from Ingleboro' is usually good for a bit of toe banging.

I've a pair of Flyroc 310 which I bought online in the US ,Being a lot cheaper than the UK plus shipping to Israel. They rubbed a bit on my left ankle at first , but now its ok ,I'm very pleased with them I was using them for dirt running ,but at the moment for walking, I wasn't pleased with the North face ,Solomon etc that are sold here so it was worth the wait to get them, I do feel that they are part of my foot and that I am "closer" to the ground than Solomon .

My Roclite 295's arrived today. I bought them online without trying them on. I had tried on the 315's and they were a bit tight at the forefoot. As the 295's are built on the same last as the Terrocs, i hoped the 295's would be wider fitting. They are! They fit me perfectly. Now to give them an outdoors thrashing.
