Did you read in the news that the Scots suicide rate amongst males is 80% higher than in Wankshire?

I hadn't heard that, but someone told that Fort William was the suicide capital of Britain.

There has been a discussion in the media recently up here. Seemingly the Scots topping rate was lower than England a few decades ago. It crept up, then overtook the Wankshire rate. As i said, it is now 80% higher than Wankshire.

On a radio prog yesterday, various 'experts'. were giving their reasons. All those middle-class profs didn't have a clue. They discussed lack of sunlight, lack of excersis, drink and alcohol abuse, etc, etc,...

Not one of them mentioned lack of proper jobs. Thatcher destroyed industry up here. Whilst the '80's economic 'miracle' brought wealth to the south, it did fuck all up here.

I reckon I'm Mr average, average salary, 3 kids, dog, cats, house is around the average value.

When I decided to move jobs and decided the place I moved to was shit it really hit home how vulnerable I was. The pressure on me to pay the bills feels overwhelming sometimes.

I reckon with my latest googling you would need to work 100 hours a month at minimum wage to cover the average rent, so with council tax bills and fuel forgetting running a car and fuel there are lots of people worse off than me.

So if I have felt a bit low and felt the strain , fuck knows how single parents without trades and qualifications must feel, I feel hemmed in and unable to affect a career change, again how do single parents feel. Obviously there are lots of people that manage on benefits and maybe even do well out of it, but there are millions of working people trapped in relative poverty.

I can't see an end to it either

Suicide rates are odd Mike, countries like mine or Sweden also have high rates and there is no particular issues in term of jobs (on the other hand they also top the "happy countries" polls which seems a contradiction).

Lack of certainties is the problem, when you dismantle the social fabric of a country, increase insecurity and offers nothing but a rat-race to consumerism, it results in an increasing number of people feeling redundant.

Anyhow...porn and redtube....

I had some a couple of weeks ago, and I reckon there's still potential for more yet

Not much fun in my game, loads of things going on the fritz with the cold, burst pipes and heating coils, tripped air handling units etc....

Finland had the highest suicide rate (don't know if they still have) but there are obvious reasons for that.

Winter. In 15 years the only snow I've seen at home is a slight sprinkling 2 winters ago

My work went quiet about 5 years ago, and shiftwork stopped. I was paid at time and a third for shiftwork. So 5 years ago my pay was cut by a third. And i haven't had a pay rise since, whilst inflation has risen around 3% per year. So i'm now earning about 55% of what i did 5 years ago. At least i'm contributing to public sector workers pensions.

I can't wait till i get my £70 a week public pension.
