Ive used a Lowe Alpine summit and as far as comfort goes I find it second to none. I like the adjustable back system, the hipbelt movement and the noggin notch, all of which aid comfort. However I couldn't stand the weight, the pockets i could barely get my hands in and the bottom zipper which didnt like to be used. The expedition 75:95 looks like its addressed everything i hated and kept all the things I liked.. Might have to get one. Only problem is with a volume of 95L and recommended weight limit of 32kg the buying of souvenirs will be more tempting.
LA claim to find the volume measurement buy filling them with beans. I've never repeated this on the Summit so can't really confirm it but it doesn't feel any smaller than previous packs with equal volume.
hmm, that wouldn't really work cause as the circumference of the cylinder shape gets larger, the volume it gains becomes greater and greater with every extra degree of measurement. I've read that back and not sure it makes sense
It does but it doesn't matter, anyway. Have you actually seen 8 x 5 litre containers stacked up? I have a roll of ThermaWrap here, radius 9cm, length 60cms and that represents a little over 15L of capacity.
I know what your saying, I have a macpac daysack that's 35 litres and i reckon I'd be hard pushed getting 5 x 2 Litre bottles inside. I think with regards to volume, experience in packing gives you a more clear idea of what the different volumes can handle. Tempting to buy a sack full of beans and test the volumes out hahaha
well, Ive ordered the new lowe alpine expedition 75:95, should get it by monday morning. I'm hoping this pack will be my new goto pack when i need a sturdy carry.
