Ajungilak Kontiki sleeping bag down from £70 to £29 in Blacks at the moment in their final clearance. Comfort down to zero degress - so pretty good price!

I've seen two reports of Rab VR jackets going for £30 at GoOutdoors, but I can only find £60 references...
|
 |
That'd better not be true... I got mine from GoOutdoors.co.uk for £65 delivered just a few days ago.
Can't decide whether to hang onto it or not though.

I have in the past visited a GoOutdoors store and found stock on sale that has not been "listed" on their website, things like Sprayway or North Face samples or other items remaindered to a discount price below that shown on the website. I assume that these are limited stock items and therefore only sourced through shops. Shopping in the shops rather than the website also means you avoid the hassles associated with their website that have been documented on other "threads" on this site.

The website shows the initial reduction to £60 was only in the Coventry store and online. Yesterdays report of £30 was spotted in the Coventry store. I fear that unless you live in or near Coventry you (and me) are out of luck.

If it's of interest, I've been told by a member of staff their (Go Outdoors) Coventry store that the online orders are fulfilled from the Coventry store.

just phoned. They have them at Coventry at £30 but won't do a phone sale.. Bummer
|
 |
Just phoned the Glasgow store and they only have one left and it's £99.... Aye, bummer

A few things from my trawl around Covent Garden yesterday: Ellis Brigham - loads of boots/shoes with 25% off, mainly summer/lightweight offerings also loads of Nike ACG clothing 25% off. Quite a bit of ladies kit at 25% off (but I didn't pay that much attention to it). Haglofs Kazoo trousers took my fancy at 25% off (£45 from £60) - you can't argue with 200g for a pair of mens long stretchy trousers (reinforced at the knees and seat too). They look to be excellent summer scrambling / climbing trousers with a close but not Ron Hill Trackster level close fit. Not sure why the ultralight obsessives have not picked up on them. I also picked up some Keen Targhees in charcoal (which is nearly black ) for £63. Very comfy for the wider foot I think so far, and by far the best Targhee colour I have seen. Field and Trek (Maiden Lane) - Icebreaker Bodyfit 150 tee-shirts (£20) and Boxers (£15) - only Ink colour (which is a very, very dark blue). Quite a bit of other stuff at silly money, but nothing that stole my attention (I guess it is possible to have nearly enough kit). Cotswold - disappointingly few things. What they did have was mainly in the "travel" arena rather than real outdoor clothing.

I did Covent Garden on Monday and I missed those Haglofs trousers in Ellis Bringham which is a sod. Cotswold had Rab Generator Smocks for £69. Not in the sale, just cheaper than normal. They only had them in denim thoug so I didn't pick one up. They also had Rab vapour rise shirts for £30, Rab womens double pile black jackets for £30 and TNF furry fleeces for £30?, in a horrible reddy brown though (i'm colour blind so reserve the right to be wrong on that). F&T had Thermarest prolite 3 3/4 length for £50, MSR pocket rocket for £20 and Titan kettle for £30 (£35?) vey tempted by that. Didn't spot the icebreaker stuff at all which I would def have had some of. Dammit. Snow and Rock had some TNF waterproofs %50 off, one of them packlite for £80 - £90, but only in XXL. Just made the arms tooo long for me, can only get away with XL. Ended up going home with a 3 litre dry bag and first aid kit. Not very satisfactory.

Julian, well I got the last of the medium Kazoos. They did have some other very light weight Haglofs offerings including what looked like a pertex type windproof gillet (but ridiculously priced at £100 before the 25% off). Try the website if you want the Kazoos, they still had them yesterday (the medium fits me fine and I am a 34" waist, so I take either a medium or large in most things). They are also a moderate to short length, so if you are tall or over endowed in the leg department, try them first. I estimate about a 30-31" inside leg on mine. Icebreaker was just inside on the left, hidden away a little. I feel a walk to Long Acre store on today to see if they have any more as the Icebreaker stuff is purrrrrrfect. Much more comfy than any other merino wool I have tried.

I live in Worthing, so I only get to go shopping when I'm up in London on business I'll have a look at their website though, but need to try before I buy really.

Hey everyone! The Lidl lot are at it again (or is it the Aldi allsorts?) An altimeter watch for £10 from Monday (probably monday morning only if it is anything like last time). They sell out vvvv quickly. Save one for me please. There are other outdoor goodies that are apparently of a reasonable quality. A mate had some trekking poles with antishock for £10 a while back and my expensive black diamond poles broke first when it lost the basket and spike off the bottom section. Fortunately we found it and thanks to duck tape it is still on. Get there quick if you want the altiueter watch but if you are near lancaster don't bother they don't sell them there at least until I have mine.
