I've got a honey stinger taunting me. Not sure I can justify that one yet. Maybe after a blast round the block on my bike tomorrow/friday.

Off to Pizza Express, then the flicks. See you later.

Evening all.  I've just had a very wet and muddy run in the rain.

Good luck to all those with hospital business!

Hi! Back after a fortnight's scuba diving in Crete. I don't have a hope in hell of reading all the posts - can someone sum up the last 16 days on Bennachie please?

I'm not sure I can remember well enough to recap - but WB NPC.

Summary: stuff happened. Jamie is in hospital with oversharing tum syndrome. And Mad Jim is also in having an op of some kind.

Oh the reality of being a patient. Hope they get to the bottom of the problem soon Jamie.
Cripes, they don't stick the gastroscope up your arse, do they?
Yes - that's called a colonoscopy. Wonder if that's next on the list for Jamie

Or else a Sigmoidoscopy. Or even a proctoscope

We have some 'special' colonoscopes for special people with particularly curly colons - they're extra flexible. And extra long ones....

Good wishes for all poorly types in hospitals.

Of course in Crete I had my usual encounter with insects - Angel Ants this time....I have one very swollen ankle; can't see the ankle bone at all. Little Ba*tards. Grrrr

Hello, NPC, welcome back. Hope you had a good holiday... you only mention the angel ants, a swollen ankle.....

Back from Miss Pettigrew which was a super film with great sets and very crisp dialogue - highly recommended, esp. because there was no gratuitous violence (well, virtually no violence at all), and no one died.

...oh the diving was great. We went with a special escort to dive to an underwater cave which opened out into a massive air-filled chamber with stalagmites and stalagtites - and a mammoth femur and a couple of teeth. The artichokes took the rest of the skeletons but left those bits for specially-arranged diving trips. The skeletons were in about 9m of water.

We even managed some downhilling on mountain bikes. And some chilling of course.

Well, I got home after a very delayed flight this morning and had 1.5 hours' sleep before getting up for work so I'd better turn in now.

The stop-cock is leaking at an alarming rate so we have to turn off the water for the night as I won't be getting up every 10 minutes to empty the catching-bowl. Plumber will return tomorrow....he'd better....

Angel ants? Presumably they have wings (if not harps and halos) and can fly? I think perhaps there's another thread somewhere around that deserves a post....?

Welcome back btw.

Naw, I think the "angel" is an oxymoron....also called fire ants or sand ants. vicious and invisible...

Called fire ants I think because one's body part - usually lower legs or feet - feel like they are on fire for about 3 days and nights if you are susceptible to them

Poison Mushrooms

A woman announces to her friend that she is getting married for the fourth time. "How wonderful! But I hope you don't mind me asking what happened to your first husband?"
"He ate poisonous mushrooms and died."
"Oh, how tragic! What about your second husband?"
"He ate poisonous mushrooms too and died."
"Oh, how terrible! I'm almost afraid to ask you about your third husband."
"He died of a broken neck."
"A broken neck?"
"He wouldn't eat the mushrooms."

Voices

A man went into a bar after work and ordered a beer. As he started drinking his beer, he heard a female voise saying seductively, 'You've got nice hair'.

The man looked all around him but couldn't see where the voice came from. A minute later he heard the same voice saying, 'You are a handsome man.' The man was really puzzled by this so he asked the barman what was going on.

The barman replied, 'It's the nuts - they're complimentary.'
