Sorry to hear about the plantar fascitis TBW. Being a medical ignoramus myself, will it ease in a few days or is it a longer term thing? (Hopes not...) Still, another new member of the Ricoh owners club!

Not got to play with the new camera yet. Been trying to figure out why my wireless router decided to suddenly stop working. Had to re-configure the bloody thing. Also thought I might as well install the bluetooth dongle too but can't get that to work with my phone at all Also had a surprise visitor - one of the local cats decided to come in and be friendly. It's a gorgeous wee thing with only one eye. If I ever get the bluetooth sorted I'll post a pic I'm hoping that this will only last a few days but the worry is that I've had more severe espisodes icreasing in frequency in the past few months so not hopeful that it'll quickly resolve.

'mornin' all! I've just been looking at, Forgive Me Father" , the latest light weight thread. It's got me thinking so I'll be doing a little weighing when I get home. It also occurs to me that I could shed around 40-50kg just by eating less when I'm offshore! Have fun in the Peaks Matt. Dick

40 - 50 kg extra on an average frame = 110-120kg. That's a lot to get down from if it's accurate. Good luck!

Morning, foot is slightly improved this morning so an excursion later to the supermarket will be the test. Ace, my latest camera purchase was the in response to wondering why my pack still felt heavy. Much as I loved my Canon I rarely used the advanced functions so have halved the weight but still have an excellent camera for outdoors.

Hi Roger, I guess I'm exagerating a bit! I'm 55 years old, 184cm tall, large frame and clock in at around 15 1/2 to 16 stone, Accoding to the chart in the Medic's office I should be around 12 1/2 to 13 stone. The last time I weighed anywhere near that I was a spotty RAF apprentice marching and doubling everywhere! I'd be happy at 14 1/2 however the food is good on here and I'm inclined to comfort eat because I like the company at the table (I work alone a lot). TBW: I'll have to have a look at the Ricoh range. I'm using an Olympus 2mb Camedia for walking; I'm getting results as good as I get on my 7mb Konica Minolta even blown up to A4 size Dick

My original 35mm film camera was a Ricoh which I loved. When I switched to digital it was initially Sony I had but ended up with the Canon as an insurance replacement when I lost mine. I do like the Canon as a lot of the features it has are excellent for the price and it has manual controls which you don't get on most point and shoots. I've gone for the Ricoh R7 because its wide angle (28-200mm) and it has x7 optical zoom so will be great for landscape. I also got a great deal with spare battery, case and 1gSD card for £149 so saved the pennies too
