I`m looking at going backpacking over the weekend and have a few routes in mind. One would see me wild camping around the little hart crag/scandale tarn area of the eastern fells. Has anyone camped here and what was it like? From some photos it looks like it could be a bit wet and boggy. Any help, suggestions or ideas greatly appreciated.

I've not camped in that area, cos it's a bit close to home, but I've walked those hills a lot and would say there are plenty of decent pitches. The ground is quite hummocky, so you should be able to get above the level of any bogs.

Yes... there are boggy bits... but there are also dry bits. You'll start to hone your skills as a wild camper by getting out there and distinguishing between the two!

The Lake District is on my doorstep, so most of the time I can finish a day's walk and head straight back home, then go out again the next day. However, I have backpacked continually for a whole month in the Lakes, and spent most of that time wild camping, and never found an area that was completely unsuitable for a pitch.
