Hi all,

I have approx £100 to spend on a tent (3 man). Will use it occssionally on the hills (so needs to be light) but will mainly use it for camping on campsite with my 2 girls.

Looking at the Vango Omega 350  http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/tents/5023518600949  which seems to fit the bill.

Are there any better alternatives out there? Is Vango a decent brand?

Any help gratefully received. Thx in advance.

have a look at the vango beta 400 (also on the go outdoors site) this is essentially the same tent but with fibre glass poles. it is slightly heavier but larger and without the seventies orange interior

For the price you can't get much better than Vango really. If you wanted one that was a bit lighter but a bit less space, this looks pretty good and a lot lighter if you are carrying.

Thy do it here for £89.99

Vango are a good brand, I've got a Spirit and I'm very happy with the build quality and attention to detail on it. I have a really tough Vango rucksack too.

I've not seen an Omega 350 in the flesh but it does appear to be the heaviest of the 3-man tents in Vango's lightweight category at over 5 kg, but you certainly get a lot more space than with the others! The Arrow, Tempest and Spectre are all lighter in their 3 man versions and all under £100 but have less headroom and space.

I'm sure that you'll get a few recommendations for the Tempest shortly - it appears to be a highly regarded tent on here. Meanwhile there are some threads on the Omega here and here and here .

What brand(s) would you recommend?

Gary, for the price i would definately go with Vango.....for car camping i have a Vango Equinox 350 which has been excellent but far too heavy to carry.

D'oh - Just read your original post again Burwa.

Apologies, for some strange reason, I read it as "For the price you can get much better than Vango really" not can't.

Thx for the help.
