Luinne Bheinn on the mainland Gillean, Basteir, Alasdair, Dubh Mor, Inn Pin on Skye. We're not really climbers so not sure how many of those 6 Cuillins we'll get through. Plenty of Corbetts and Grahams to do and tons of Munros to do again

I'll bounce this turn back to you Reiver as I may be off line for a few days

Hmmm. Not enough Scots around eh?

Don't wish to be responsible for killing this thread after so long so if no-one knows the above I'd invite one of the windies to post another rock or fence post in a bog from down south.

Forgot all about this, truth is i don't know, the main hill in the centre looks abit like Marsco, but nothing round about it looks right, my other thought is the Ben Damph area maybe looking over from the applecross hills, dosn't look quite right though.

Gives us a clue

Hope it aint a Munro caus I don't recall being there! So another wild guess, Moidart / Ardgour peninsular.

I'm on a munro, I think 5 munro summits visible in pic 1. I'm firmly SE of the great Glen.

Here's another shot from the summit of the munro I'm on

OK, think I have finally got it, in the last pic you are on top of An Castiel looking NW throgh Strath Fillan. The middle pic is the summit of Ben More, and that beautifully shaped ridge on the right skyline of your first pic is that of stob binnein

Precisely correct. Ben Lawers peaking up between Ben More and Cruach Ardrain

Yes, spot on.

Out of complete coincidence this was the seen of a hill rescue on Saturday night in the appalling weather that we suffered up here in the borders. link to news story. The hut referred to in the story can be seen on the right of the picture in the middle ground.

This time I am not in the UK, I'm in a right wierd place, but there are a couple of well known walks here the first of which (below) is apparently over twenty miles long.

The second two pictures here are of a shorter walk, I did the first little bit then walked back down again (I felt a little ill back down at the bottom)

Any ideas where I might be?

this is just outside the capital city of the country, if you know the country you can easily work out the city and the walk

Asia - that is about as vague as having a teasing two location post!
Show/hide user stats

whattda mean a two location post? both walks start at the end of the motorway in the photograph.

since no one is going to get this I may as well give you the answer :

All the photos show "The Walk of Health" the path in the top photo is 36km long, and the path is the bottom photos is 8km long through the hills and mountains (Kopet Dag) just outside Ashgabat in Turkmenistan. built by Saparmurat Niyazov, former president of Turkmenistan (died 2006), who was a totalitarian dictator with a personality cult.

There are so many views from differing slants on these walks in western media and guidebooks it is difficult to know what to believe. The walk/s was constructed around 2000, The walk was to mark Health Day, a public holiday declared by Mr Niyazov after he recovered from a heart attack some years previous. Niyazov forced his ministers to do the walk only Niyazov completed it (in his helicopter)he urged all citizens to make the walk at least once a year. the 8KM walk seems to have a similar purpose, Niyazov met his ministers at the highest point in his helicopter again, and said it should take them no more than 90minites and would set them up for a day in the office.

Here is another picture for you closer to home, and loads of you have passed it, so if i looked on the map where is it?
