In anycase if you have climbed all The Furths you must then have a list of The Furths or is it coming out in a new book. You've beat me to it!!! 

I have the1997 edition of the SMC's Munro's tables which lists the Furths on a single page between the list of Munroists and the Corbetts. It lists 6 in England, 15 in Wales and 13 in Ireland. The preamble states "The exact number of summits is open to debate but all the controversial tops would normally br traversed as part of the ascent of the principal peaks. A complete ascent of this list... is an achievement recognised by the Clerk of the List"

I guess that to be recognised as an acheivement by the SMC, the SMC list of Furths should be used.

Another use of the term is within my university as we occasionally have to consider for approval "study furth of the university" by research students.

Thanks David for that clarification. I must admit to not having a copy of Munro's tables, as I've always relied upon a web-based facility for ticking off my achievements. Clearly , now I'll have to invest in a copy.

It looks like the Furth list in the SMC Munro tables is the same as the 3000ft+ Hewitts (defined as 2000ft+ high and 30m drop, so more rigorous than Munros) in England, Wales and Ireland. See Alan Dawson's lists, also listed here:

Norman last week I was up in Inverness so visited their reference library where they have a selection of mountaineering books including the 1997 Munro Tables (latest edition). As David H2 said the single page on Furths says:

I took a note of these Furths together with their height and grid reference and once I amend my own list I'll send you a copy so that you can start planning your assualt on them.
