http://www.nomadtravel.co.uk/catalog/search?search=jungle&x=13&y=11Jungle use kit from Nomad. Sadly I see they are no longer now selling the jungle belt order and leech socks right now again for the time being. A real shame that, as they were really very good value bits of useful kit those two lines. Some of the shops or Ebay may still have stocks of these though, as both items were definitely still being advertised on the main Nomad website just a few short months back ago there.

If these items cannot now be still obtained it is fairly easy to improvise yourself either, and old army belt order is just as useful if not as secure. Everything within would need to be plastic bagged in the army pouches, if so used instead.

A good dedicated water purification set up for the jungle is a must. Take water puri tabs as a back-up by all mans of course; but you will need obviously to rely on a really good water filter unit to avoid the possible nasties of contaminated water in this environment. Remember that it is a necessity often to filter your water and not just to boil in jungle/tropical forest areas; even deep in the jungle when taking water from fast flowing rivers. This is because of the high probability possibilities of non-natural mankind caused invisible contaminants in much of the water. By this I am cheifly meaning such nasty stuff as that left within the water systems widely throughout these regions of South and Central America; particularly by gold mining operations and other unlicenced and unregulated industrial frontier activities. Gold mining particularly puts large quantities of poisonous heavy metals like mercury into the eco-system, that will be present often both in the water itself and in the fish and animals there which one might need to eat for survival too. A very sad fact of modern life in the developing world, driven by us here in the first world.

Come to think of it, most of this stuff mentioned here is actually very well covered in that You Tube film there entitled 'Ray Mears Jungle Camp'.
