I'm thinking of a getting a Gelert self-inflating mattress, probably the 3/4 length extreme lite. The price is very attractive compared to a thermarest - just wondered if anyone had used them?

not used the gelert one , but the alpkit wee airic is great , real cheap too and a great company website compares all the main makers of mat , think the gelert is in that comparison

take it easy

Trust the Gelert weighs as advertised.  Just got a prolite 3 through Ultralightoutdoorgear which comes in at 468g (with stuff sack), a lot more than the weight advertised on thermorest website.

had one of those, v thick and comfy and prettty light, make sure you're happy with the mummy shape- i tend to sleep foetal and i found it a little skinny at the bottom.

I had a full length one a couple of years back. Cheap and robust. Thermarest etc are lighter, but at 3 times the price

Yup, used one, and I got it even cheaper as it's both an ex display and cosmetic second, think it was €8 at the time, it's fine, does what it says on the tin, however I also have a full length wee airic which I can also recommend and prefer due to the fact that it's great value, lightweight and the fabrics used seem ore robust than the gelert(they also don't let you or the mat slide around, which the gelert can do, due to the slightly glossy fabrics), they're both grand and I doubt you'd be disappointed by either.

I use the gelert one, and get on with it fine. It may not be the lightest, but for that price, it wouldn't be would it?

I also find the length ok, despite being of fairly normal proportions myself.

I have a Decathlon A100 Ultralight.
380gm, £19-95 but my feet get cold, so always have to put fleece or something under them.

I use the Alpkit Wee Airic, no problems even though it's my 1st 3/4 mat.

Thanks Everyone. I managed to find the 3/4 extreme lite for £14.75, so went for that.

Have only used thermarest but have just bought "self inflating camping mat" from Aldi for £9.99. Not used it yet but for the price it looks great.
