Fairy nuff Tony. Tell you what I though was odd on my last little trek... given the field of work you're in. I came across an emergency telephone... bright yellow thing... with a prominent notice to say that I should dial 999 in case of emergency. And there was only one button to press on the phone... and it was labelled '1'.

Good job it wasn't an emergency!

Bus timetables! Schedule! You mean that you routinely extensively plan the route down to the minutest last tiny little single detail there, each and every time you go out to do a new guide book then Paddy! That's shattered a few illusions for me, on you stepping out adventurously to do a trail! I figured you mostly just explored on the ground as you went along day by day. Didn't realise it was all so meticulously pre-planned. I'd hate that more fully disciplined approach myself, keeping to timetables; but then I guess it all saves you time and trouble later on no doubt, of course.

Trevor - I'm heading somewhere that probably has some of the sparsest and least useful public transport, and I intend taking the place apart in terms of routes. If I have ALL the information I need at my fingertips, then I can go where I like and do what I like, in the knowledge that when I step down to a road, I know exactly what level of public transport I'm going to find. That means I can aim to be on the road at exactly the right time. In other words none of it is pre-planned, but all my wanderings will take place in a setting where I can change my mind whenever I wish, and no matter what direction I choose, I'll already know what options there are for bailing out and/or moving on to the next place.

Does the pdf reader for the Psion still work with more recent pdf files, Paddy? I used to download the local train timetable and use it regularly in the past.

Blimey?  Has Project Echelon been sub-contracted to Crapita as well?

Or are you just keyboarding the Snoop Dog off your MP3 without thinking?

It's a long time since I watched the X Files.  I guess it depends on which bit of the theme tune I'm trying to reproduce...
