I like to carry more than one type of peg, unless i know the camp spot. I always carry a couple of bombproof pegs for main guying points.

Indeed: skewers are terrible in loose sandy soli (or indeed sand, or snow), V stakes tend to suffer in very stony ground.

Our upcoming cycle tour of the Outer Hebs will have a full set of Vs borrowed from the Tarra since we'll probably be on the beach at some point.

I was looking for some new tentpegs, nothing too fancy, I quite liked the basic alu round pegs that came with my argos tiger paws tbh. I was gobsmacked by the prices charged. Alu pegs, whether simple round ones or Y shaped seem massively overpriced for what they are. The ones linked to in one of the posts above are over a pound each. As they must be churned out of a factory in China I would love to know what the factory would charge. Alpkit should start selling basic alu ones for a reasonable price as well as the fancy Ti ones.

I decided I could make do with the old basics from previous tents.
