Some really nice photos from everyone, thanks very much. My camera's still not playing ball, I'll see if a nice camera shop will try a different battery whilst I try out possible new cameras (since I was already in the market for one).

Kate, sorry I didn't make it but come back from holiday to find an invitation to a party for Sunday midday.

Glad you all had a good time.

Sorry again.

...re campsite, I was trying to remember the name of the farm I camped at last year when in the area for a cycle race... it was Pen-y-dre Farm, they were great - it's just a small camping field and if I recall only about £3.50/night, tho may be a bit far from the heart of he mountains for a hiking meet. Website here

see you soon, ciao!

Actually, that's a cracking spot to start a Black Mountains hike, ascending Hatterall hill and coming off at any of several points along the way to visit historical sites or carrying on to Hay Bluff (all the while marvelling at the beauty of the Vale of Ewyas) then descending to Gospel Pass and mounting Lord Hereford's Knob (Twmpa to those less disposed to the prurient) and then all of the Black Mountains are yer lobster Rodney.

BTW, there is a small bothy in the area, by the Grwynne reservoir.

Bothy is ok - not recommended for more than about 4 - it's no Dulyn!!!

Glad everyone had a good time - sorry I couldn't be there!

cool, Black Mountain then for a future meet, staying at Pen-y-dre possibly...

It's only about 600 metres from the Skirrid Inn. But just so there's no mistake, it's Black Mountains and not Black Mountain, the latter is way over in the west.
