Hello.

I commute daily to work by bicycle and am looking  for a hydration pack large enough for the following:

* full 2-3 liter bladder of water (let's say 3 liter to be on the safe side)

* bicycle kit ( spare tube, pump, small mult-tool set)

* small meal (snack+sandwich)

* full set of clothes for change (long trousers, shirt, undergarments)

* shoes (not completely necessary) - can be secured on the outside I guess.

The pack should also sit tightly enough so I can jog long distances without having it bounce around on my back.

I saw the deuter hydro exp packs on the internet and they look nice but until I see one for real in the store I figured I'll ask if someone here owns one and can tell me if it's large enough for my stuff.

I  like the shape of the pack and the hip belt pockets but obviously need to try one on before purchasing.

In short - I'm looking for the smallest possible pack that'll hold my load for bike rides, running and perhaps an occasional hike.

I'm guessing the 12+2 liter version is good enough...

Thanks,

Dan

No experience of that pack Dan, but this is a little belter with well thought out features and way more (cleverly compressible) space than you'd expect

I bought it for mountain biking, but the Mrs has since nicked it and uses it virtually year round for walking. Amazing what she gets in it. Even managed to stuff a climbing helmet in there!

Thanks for the tip!

Anyone else have anything to add?

Whatever you use for jogging/hiking, I'd strongly advise letting the bike take the strain for a daily cycle, and carry the fluid in a bottle which is easier to fill and easier to clean.

You've spent all that money on a strong metal frame to take weight... and then go and hang it off yourself.  Doesn't make much sense, and letting the bike take the weight means a vastly more comfortable (and hence enjoyable) cycling experience.

Pete.

I use a Deuter Race Exp Air for my daily commute to work (well tbh when the weathers good, I'm rather fair weather) bladder holder, lappy (12.5" model), spare clothes, pump, repair kit. odds and sods akll fit ok.

Obv I don't use a bladder with a works lappy in the bag (just in case it fails, plus it doesn't easily fit), I can't get a proper shirt to work without it being creased to hell, and there's no room for work shoes.

I tend to leave the work shoes at work, and get my wife to bring in a load of shirts at the begining of the week if i need to be smart, as she works at the same place and will come in the car after dropping off the kid.

Decent ventilated back on the bag, so a shower is only needed if I've been racing the bloody beemer and volvo drivers from the lights.

Love the helmet holder on it too, less clutter to hang onto getting into and out of the building (and to be entirely honest, if my hairs got to the needing lots of hair gel stage cos I haven't got it cut for a while I can cycle in, carefully with no lid, and then go for a good blast on the downs after work with a lid).

Umm can't think what else, apart from impressed with the quality of the consruction, and I like it.
