I'm thinking of getting some Haglofs shoes, but have been put off a bit by the price of around £100. Part of the reason for this high price is supposed to be the fact they come with Sole mouldable insoles, which have got some very good write-ups, but I already have custom made orthotic insoles so have no use for the Haglofs ones. So, does anybody think there'd be any takers for a pair of unused size 47 Sole insoles, and what do you would be a fair price, bearing in mind their rrp is supposed to be £35 or so?

.. but the esteemed Jon says, on this very site  here that Haglofs footwear is being supplied complete with Sole footbeds "with no significant price hike". !!

I have the Haglofs solid lite boots and think the new insoles are great once you have tried them.

Wife has a pair and they dont have them but she still thinks the boots are very comfy without them, plus they did give her a pair of brasher insoles foc when she bought them .

Why not try your new shoes with your custom made insoles and see how you get on and if they dont bond with each other try the insoles.

And there was a price increase of about £30 where i bought mine from, wifey paid £135 for hers and when i got some they had risen to £165 less discount .

Must say tho that they have been the most comfortable boots i have had on my feet from the moment i put them on!!!

The solid lites do look lovely but they're boots you know

The escape ventilators certainly aren't cheap: - 85 vs ~65 for vairous Montrail/ Innov 8 options. Doesn't matter so much in a lot of things but shoes do of course need a lot of replacing.

I have actually been vaguely eyeing these for winter - they seemed to be wide enough fitting for me to get thick/ waterproof socks etc in.

One thing perhaps worth bearing in mind is that the uppers on some of their trails shoes look really rather durable.  Much more so than mostly mesh things at least. The trail 2's look absurdly tough but are (for me!) tragically cursed with a waterproof liner.

So if you look after them properly you may be able to resole them - the availability of suitable replacement midsoles/soles seemed unclear when I asked one of the big footwear repair folk.

The shoes I've been looking at fit nicely with my existing insoles -- probably because they're fairly high volume. It's difficult to see how Haglofs can include such specialized quality insoles "with no significant price hike" -- unless they've skimped on the materials used elsewhere, or decided to become a charity.

Guy - I somehow doubt they're a charity. But if you buy insoles by the lorry-load, without packaging, in one shipment direct to the factory I suspect they work out rather cheaper than punters pay in downtown Ambleside. But unless Haglofs sell replacement insoles a lot cheaper than £37, I would think the price of replacing them will put some people off buying the shoes in the first place, since they are very nearly half the price of the shoe!

They come with the standard insoles and the extra heat treatable ones,so you can use either!

Next time i wear mine im going to use one of each and see just how good they are.

"The price of the insoles will result in no significant price hike"

Mmmmm.

Don't forget that a lot of the price-hikes we're seeing (not just Haglofs footwear) are simply down to the slide in the exchange rate of the pound against both the dollar and especially the euro. As new models and new season's stock, and fresh orders of existing lines, filters into the shops it's almost inevitable that we'll see significantly higher prices - just an unfortunate fact of economic life....
