I carry some porridge in the morning but  lately have had breakfast bars instead -about the same in calories and and no cooking/washing up.The porridge has to be improved with milk and muesli to add calories and make the cooking worthwhile.

I would have thought if you needed you can get more than 1000cals out of a pub meal if you choose correctly -170cals in pint of Guinness.I ask in pubs ,if they don't do them already, to make me up a take away sandwich or two for tea or breakfast .If they are not too busy they usually do,if very hungry ask if they have an apple or a banana to spare. You are the customer.Has to be super tough and wilderness for me to carry more than 4 days food.Use your porridge/ muesli meal and mint cake for emergency rations.
