On my last outing to the fells I managed to bust a pole, something which in fifteen years of using them I've never managed to do. I suspect I hadn't quite done it up tightly enough and it caught on a rock under some snow as I was crossing a snowed over stream. The internal catch has broken off. It's just as well I had a pair on me because I use a pole to support my tarp.
I have had my eyes on the ones by black diamond because I find twisting poles a pain in the backside - by the end of the day when they are wet I can't always undo them.
The thumb catches on BD poles seem good and positive. Have you any recommendations as to model or are there any other poles I should really be considering? What I want is the usual - light, ideally something I can stow easily not least so it doesn't gouge out the eye of anyone hear me as I put my pack on my shoulders.
