Money for undergrounding can be found if you happen to live in the right place.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/4244230.stm

A special grant from Ofgem (that's you and me folks) will improve the countryside of the SE of England by burying existing overhead power cables.

Of course, it doesn't matter what those hairy jocks have to live with. . . . they should just be bl**dy glad with what they're given.

Folks, there are only a few hours left for anybody wanting to register their concerns.

A quick and easy e-objection form can be found here.

A minute of your time is all it would take.

Cheers.

Looks like the decision has been made. See Press and Journal Article.

Here is the MCofS response.

Not good news to those opposed to the destruction of the Highlands.

Looks like the SNP have decided to ruin the Scottish Highlands with wind turbines and pylons to keep the green brigade happy and to make millions of pounds profit for share holding companies.

This is surely a small price to pay for using renewable energy, the upgraded pylons are essential.I adore my beautiful country, but its about time we harnessed our natural resources i.e wind, rain, waves etc.And as a homeowning taxpayer if it saves me money and helps the planet long term i dont object. The scottish highlands will not be ruined, after all are us outdoors people not part of the "green brigade" too? Would more nuclear power plants be preferable

The option to run power lines under the sea wasn't even considered. Wind power is a joke, and only makes money for private investors. Take away the grants, and see how many get built. A scientist on BBC News 24 was quite interesting. During this long cold spell when we need extra power, wind-powerstations are contributing only 1% to the national grid. There has been virtually no wind over the last 2 weeks!

This power line will open up the floodgates for power stations to be built all over the highlands. The existing line couldn't handle much more, and now thousands of new applications for powerstations will be submitted.

A black day for the future of the Highlands.
