Has anyone seen these Keen thingies Jon highlighted a few days ago? They look rather nice, I thought. Mmmmm....

They were certainly available in most of the 'major' stores around my way earlier this year - Snow & Rock, F&T, Ellis Brigham, Outside. I haven't really paid much attention whether they've kept them in stock through winter, but I think so. Ellis Brigham online claim to have a bargain on the womens model at the moment here

I was looking at them in Itchy Feet at the weekend. They look Ok but there didn't seem to be any particular reason to buy them over four or five other equivalents.

 Ta, Matt!
Bizarre! Just as I wrote that I heard jingling bells outside! I wonder if it was Father Christmas making a note? :-)
|
 |
 How's your route coming, Andy?
|
 |
Cotswold Outdoor and Snow and Rock. Are we counting down yet? Re Tuesday not Sunday!
|
 |
Have just checked Shirl. Ellis Brigham have them, ÂŁ55.99. If you are desperate I can bring a pair north with me. They will not be too good in snow though!!!
|
 |
Ta, Brenda, but really I was just drooling :) In any event, I'd need to try them on. Maybe for the summer!

 PW,
The route is coming along a bit. To be honest I've had a rest from it - it was becoming a little all too consuming! I'll emails shortly in case we need to co-ordinate Lairig Ghru approaches. I'm OK until Laggan (probably Braemar) but need to follow up the end of the route.
I've also kept the route quite low and will then give it another look to add a few hills in.

 |
Sound good, Andy :) I'll probably send mine in in early January.

Stu has the full sandal version if these and I have the full trail shoe of these which seam to be a cross between what we both own and they are very good both in terms of comfort and If you want sandals that offer good toe protection.
Mine are extra brilliant due to being a very cool shade of purple :-)))))

 |
Ooh, ta Jules. That may be all the incentive I need... ;-)
I like the purple idea! Are they leather or some sort of fabric?

 Hi Peewiglet.
I have a pair of these shoe/sandal thingies, you can see my review under sandals. In it I pointed out problems I had with the lace lock slipping and heel rub. When I tried them on and tested them in the shop, then wore them around the house for a few hours they felt great, the problems didn’t really show up until after I’d worn them for a few miles. To be fair, it could be my feet which are the problem rather than the shoes. I wore them quite a bit for shortish walks in the Summer - I really like them but found it frustrating to have to keep fiddling with the lace lock and ensure that my heels were taped up.
I hope you have better luck if you decide to get a pair. If they suit your feet I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
The other thing worth bearing in mind is that unlike sandals (in which debris works its way out again) with these, debris accumulates and they do need to be emptied.
Mine are a grey colour, I didn’t see this design in purple, wish I had.
Hope that helps:)

I waited all summer for the men's version to come into stock at work... no such luck, only had womens.

Good points, Elaine - thanks for that. I'll go and look up your review.

The purple ones are the trail shoe rather than the sandal in nubuck. The sandals come in more muted colours but the whole Keen range is very similar in design, its just the amount of covering the foot gets that varies. All the Keen foot wear has this nice roomy bit round the toes and they do protect the toes very well, better than any other sandal.
