Seemingly whatever I do I suffer from cold hands. I currently use wool liner gloves, but wondered if there may be a better alternative? I know people rave about powerstretch, and Ive also spotted some silk liners recently. Just wondered what other people thoughts were?

I use the cheap (£4-ish) thermal wool ones. I won't spend more because I have a habit of trashing liners. Main gloves get taken off and put back on, but I never take liners off in cold weather due to Reynaud's syndrome (circulation simply shutting off in one or more digits). Consequentially, the liners get trashed on rocks and other things quite a lot, but for £4 a throw, it's not that bad. Another advantage is that they are still pretty warm when wet, and dry out fast.

Ben-I find some of the base-layer gloves have a relatively open weave and may be fine as part of a layering system but are not so good as a stand-alone when you remove your shells to take a photo or eat etc.
I'm currently using power-On liners which I like. They are closely woven 100% polyester.
I've tried several combinations to keep my hands warm and had some useful help on this Forum. In cold conditions I use three layers.
I've settled on the above base layers, some medium weight fleece mid-layers (detachable) and a pair of shell mitts (Extremities Tuff bags).I also use chemical warming pads when necessary.I'm a walker and my set-up wouldn't suit others.Haven't saved enough to buy a pair of the battery heated mitts!

i have problems with my fingers, my circulation is attrocious (sp?). For me powerstretch is the mutt's nuts as a liner, pretty warm, and dextrous. If it's really cold i sometimes wear a pair of terra nova thinnies underneath my powerstretch ones (about £5, but don't put them near velcro) it improves insulation alot and doesn't increase bulk much

Also suffer from cold hands too. Have recently bought a pair of silk liner gloves. Not cheap at £12 mind, but I've been impressed with them, worn them on a couple of night bike rides under my thick cycling gloves, and I do notice the difference.
They are not as warm as the thin thermals like the TN thinnies or similar at about half the price, but these don't fit easily under the particular cycling gloves.

I've found £12 powerstretch liners to be a HUGE improvent over the cheap (<£5) generic wool one-size fits all stretch liner gloves.

PowerStretch is good, for a more wind-resistant option, take a look at the Taku Stretch gloves from outdoordesigns. They use a more wind resistant stretch fleece with a harder outer and grippy silicone dots, very neat and good with poles, ice tools etc :-) Good for modular use as a result.

Cotswold in Glasgow, and everywhere else I'm sure, has changed the liners they stock they're now branded with their own blue mountain logo on the packaging. Dull I know, but they're now a little bigger so they actually fit manly hands.
I'm happy anyway, I got a pink pair for JYC and had to tumble dry them to get them to fit.
Outdoor designs do several liners, including the bog standerd type in two sizes.
I tried marmot powerstretch liners for a while, but I found them too slippy I either dropped things or gripped them so hard I got cramp.

I just bought a pair of "Magik Ssstretch" gloves, one size fits all from Primark, various colours for only 75p.
85% acrylic, 15% elastane, with a ribbed cuff. Excellent little glove liner.

Form an orderly queue!

Normally if its just cold (and i'm not on the tops) i wear a cheap pair of fingerless gloves (acrylic) they allow me to do things without having to take them off, because one thing i do know is that as soon as you put a pair of gloves on guaranteed you need to use your hands for something ;-)

Recently though they wasnt warm enough so i tried a pair of ME powerfleece gloves, hoping they would be better (similar to Powerstretch) but they wasnt, luckily the fingerless gloves fitted over the top, and that worked a treat :-)
