I have heard it on the grapevine that Mountain Equipment are considering selling the faulty batch of the Torres 2 back to retailers to sell at half price...

Apparently the tents were returned to the manufacturers to repair the dodgy de-bonded suspension points, this has been done (somewhat over zealously) thereby solving the tent's problems, but leaving a slightly anaethetic look.

If any retailers pick them up you could be looking at getting this £325 tent at half price. Quite tempting...?

Hmm at about £160 that would be a good deal. I could do with a winter tent.

If anyone spots one half price, let us know!

Alex

Any feedback on the use of your Mountain Equipment Torres.

I am swinging between a torres 2XT and a Terra Nova Voyager.

any help from any tent users would be appreciated.

Sorry StevieC didn't get to try the tent out in the end, see me comments on another forum:

There seems to be a whole bunch of other satisfied Torres 2XT users talking about them on the boards though.

Steve,

I've seen the ME Torres go for £125. Apart from the now fixed seam defects, they seem ok, if a little heavy. For what it's worth, I ordered myself a Voyager- as I ordered online I didn't get to see any of the tents. I was very happy with the Voyager on a recent wild camp on the top of the Glyders a month or so ago.
