There's only 250 of those pictures! More to come if I can ever get round to it. I'm just about to start putting together a trail journal - guess it will take me a couple of weeks.

BTW, whatever happened to John Manning on this year's Challenge?

I gather he went to join his partner in New Zealand instead.

Just seen the rest of the pix on flicker. Cool, great definition. Although I do wonder about all this 'lightweight' talk on your blog and you carry around that huge great SLR ;-)

Just sifting through our 300 to put up on the site once I get all the paperwork up to date. Rose is nagging me to stop distracting myself looking for others diaries etc.

Sad isn't it? All over and just want to relive it again. Still going through the 90 audio files I recorded to try and create something worth listening to. Oh and also found the new Backpacker Podcast via your blog too. Just downloaded it and going to have a listen tonight.

Yerright Bob,

I took my air permeable Gore-Tex dry bags (available at backpackinglight.co.uk, folks, if there're any left) out to NZ to catch up with Her Ladyship and tramp (as they say) a few trails - the Kepler, the Rees-Dart, and a few days backpacking in Nelson Lakes National Park. Stunning place of glaciers, the lushest forest out and wonderful birdlife. Highlights included being attacked by a parrot in a snowstorm, sitting in a puddle on a beach in the rain and watching enormous eels by moonlight. Oh, and visiting the Lord of the Rings exhibition.

I did miss being on the TGO Challenge, and have been very entertained by Steve Perry's recounting of his Challenge adventures. That's the third year in a row I've missed out on the TGO Challenge fun so intend to be there next year and hope to see a bunch of OMers there too!

Now to catch up listening to me podcasts...

I always find that re-living treks is quite a dangerous thing. You spend six months planning them and then the next six months reliving them! No time for real life otherwise!

Thanks for the comments about bthe photos Bob. You've rumbled my secret. I have to go lightweight in order to carry the D70 around! Still, I think it is worth it. To some extent the camera balances the pack, rather like those odd front and back pack arrangements that you can get from Australia.
