...that Alan Hinkes might be writing for tgo in the future.
What do you all think? tgo have a track record of getting good people to write for the magazine, but is this just a rumour?
 Oooooooooo :-)
But another rumour hints at him taking it easy and writing for Knitting Monthly. First article is on crocheting a high-altitude tea cosy.
If he starts writing columns I hope they have more variation than his interviews!
Must admit I've always associated Hinckes with Trail in the past - where he shares with us those occasional gems like how to put up a tent in the wind!
We'll want something a bit more philosophocal in TGO!

Terrible things, rumours...

 Aye,
Dunno what they're on about...

Time for a bit of reading-between-the-lines there I think.
I think he should come along to an OM meet.
Good news! I only hope his transfer from Trial didn't involve a meeting in a motorway service area and a brown envelope!
Wot transfer? What column? We should be told...
Just make sure he writes more than about that photo of his daughter that he kisses at the top of mountains ....
... I've heard that one several thousand times.
Make sure he writes about more than the size of the neck of his pee bottle as well please - heard that few times as well ;o)
i've heard everything more than enough - and i've only been to one presentation!!
Will he reveal how he felt when an OMer pinched his pint?
Only kidding - lots ;0) of ;0) winky, ;0)smiley ;0) things ;0)
I've not read the article properly yet, but he appears to be introducing a section on walking in the Lake District. (This seems to have been written with Easter in mind although the weather forecast looks ghastly).
So, lots of opportunties for a favourite CBE to tell all those old Lakeland stories you've probably hear before :-)
Instead of Hinkes photo on the front cover, shouldn't it really be this chap called Andy Stothert - he appears to have written every one of those Lake District walks and seems to be TGO's favourite wordsmith at the moment. But then his photo wouldn't help sell the magazine! (Actually I quite like his style, but who is he??)

Should be a T on the end of course though the link should still work.
Just learnt from another thread how to do links like this! Still harder than cut and paste.
Chris - while your link works fine, Andy's web-link on the OWG website doesn't! The OWG website method of making web-links is even more difficult than OM. For the benefit of readers, this is Andy Stothert's site: Andy Stothert Lakelandscapes Technology... spit!
 Thanks Paddy. I didn't try Andy's OWG web-link.
I see your link and mine both work!
I guess we follow the instructions though!
