Has anyone tried it?
It's kicking around £6 on the net and just wondered if it was decent enough to consider it as an option?
Thanks

i have one and its fine. there is a plastic taste to start with but that goes afer a while. camelbak, platypus and source are probaly better but none at that price.
so i think its go value for money

I've got one that came with a rucsac. The rucsac was uncomfortable and has been resigned to work only.
The bladder?? Used a couple of times as a water carrier when camping and the water was ok. Feels rather flimsy though and i would rather spend a little extra on a sturdier bladder. But as a first bladder, to see if you get along with it, it seems ok.

the seal went on my other halves after one use and the mouthpiece leaks so im not a fan really!

Thanks, might just have to fork out of a platypus, left my old one back in NZ grrr....

I've got two Gelert bladders (bought at different times, so unlikely to just be a bad batch) and both have the exact same problems:
They leak from the filling cap (not badly enough to warrant retiring them, but enough to be annoying) and the on/off valve is mis-aligned - so when you turn it to on no water comes out - to achieve a reasonable flow you have to fiddle around to some unmarked position between on and off.
Not found the taste to be any worse than on a Camelbak, though.

Bought a Gelert bladder last year. Used it two separate weeks for water only, drying out carefully between trips - fine. Came to use it again - chlorine taste to the water within a very short time after filling. Rinsed thoroughly - just as bad. Used Miltons - no different. Detergent - no effect. A new electric kettle produced water with the same taste, but as suggested in the instructions, the bad taste went away after a few refills. No such luck wih the Gelert, so looks like i'm binning it; pity as it otherwise functioned fine.

.jpg) No such probs. with Ortlieb, I,ve had three of them. Not at £6 tho. Cheers.

That figures. My Ortlieb map case has been excellent - typically German attention to quality. The water bag + drinking tube come to £30 though, and to hear you've gone through three of them... Did they split or what?

.jpg) Answer to your question Tony,Ive been backpacking for sixty years plus. My first ortlieb was probably 25yrs. ago, I do remember that got too near the fire along with a pair of lederhosen shorts. I managed to repair the shorts not so the ortlieb. The 2nd. one was lost on skye doing the Inpin. The third one I still have probably 10 - 12 yrs old. They are "almost" indistructable under normal use. Cheers.

£30 is starting to sound cheap!

Tastes so so bad! I can't do a days ride drinking that poison, it's going to have to be binned... For my healths sake!!! Shame. And I doubt I'll be able to get a refund

My first hydration bladder was a Gelert job. I've had it some years now and actually threw it out yesterday. I used it half a dozen times and each time the water tasted strongly of plastic so it has lain in storage for about 4 years. Of course they may have improved since then but I stick to Source products now. I still prefer to drink from bottles, though.

Yes indeed, Source are an answer. Bought a Source to replace the Gelert and have had no issues with it whatsoever.
