...what did everybody else do? And why didn't you take cameras! Just being nosey really.
The floppy-haired bloke finishing the fell race in the article isn't me in a wig by the way, it's Lord Derby.
I didn't realise at the time I sent the email off to Susan but another spectator was Mr Osborne, the Shadow Chancellor. Should have spotted him really but he looked far too young, standing under his "Conservatives" umbrella.

I'd love to tell you a tale of amazing hill walks and outdoors escapades... but the fact is it was my 18th on the friday so I spent most of the weekend in various pubs, then doing a bit of revision for my A-levels.
Still, I've got a 3 month holiday period ahead of me with trips to Snowdonia, the Lakes and the Swiss Alps organised so im sure I'll have some stories to tell soon!

Spent a couple of days up in the Rhinogs. Fantastic! Except for the unmitigated disaster having found a top notch pitch and boiled water only to find that we'd forgotten the teabags...
But no photos because the camera's broken and my current complete retail embargo (a special exception to which is being made this week, for a new tent :-)) doesn't extend to a new camera :-(

Spent my bank holiday in the Black Mountains - one of my fav' areas in the UK. Good weather except for Sat am. Will try hard to put up some photos tomorrow.

Spent it in my bathroom - ripping an old, decrepit one out and trying to put a new one in, which is not completed. And, on this stunning weekend of glorious sun, I'm working on nights, sleeping through the day. Lucky people you are...

 Oh no!
We had a ramble from Windermere to Penrith today. Weather was terrible, pouring with rain, no views above 1000', wading through bog most of the way, and the pub was shut. Wish I'd stayed in bed really.
(Well it's got to be worth a try)

Last two bank hols wed had Stu's two year old daughter to stay so extreem sports were not really on the agenda, more the local ball pool. But we spent this weekend climbing at Symonds Yat.Had a fantastic time till we got rained off this afternoon with an unexpected thunder storm which dropped some very heavy rain. Can definatly recomend the Wye vally, stunning location for climbers, walkers, cyclists and those that like messing about on the river :-)

Spent the bank holiday itself on Beinn Fhada, experiencing a taste of winter again...then the next few days backpacking in the West Monar forest. At one point I realised I couldn't remember which day it was, so I must have been relaxed .... only too aware it's Monday tomorrow though! :(

My bank holiday weekend... except it wasn't a 'bank' holiday where I was... spent mostly playing in the garden with my one year old boy, me planting flowers, him pulling them up, me re-planting them, him pulling them up...
Went for a shortish hike on the rocky mesa above the house with the kid on my back. Saw my first big bull snake of the summer...
And then ran a 20-miler Monday night with almost 4,000 feet of ascent thrown in. So far, not spotted any black bears or mountain lions...
