Somebody mentioned GOoutdoors on here. Cutting a long story short, I placed an order and got an email back saying it would be delayed due to one item having to be transfered from another location. Visiting their website, to my surprise, I found that they have a bricks'n'mortar store at Stockport which is only 5 miles from where I work. What's more they let me cancel the web order and the Stockport store offered to hold the items for me without me having to ask. "Alan" even gave me verbal directions to the store that were spot on. Arriving in store I met Alan and he proved to be very knowledgable on the stock. Certainly had the correct answers to my questions. I had a look at the tent section. Again the chap there new his tents. Showed me the Vaude Taurus with its self-repairing/healing material. Very clever stuff. There was another customer in there. He'd got the wrong colour boots and the staff seemed to be going out of their way to help him get replacements for Friday. It's big store and I'm could have spent loads more time and money in there. It seems to have everything I've been eyeing-up. I just a bit too close for my wallet's comfort though :-O They've got a discount card scheme: £4 for the year and gets 10% of everything and makes you eligible for the special offers. For exmaple my Scarpa Heliums £29. Thought I'd mention it as especially good service is a rarity and that's what I feel I got today. Thanks GOoutdoors

I'd have to agree with you.
I bought a Powerball and the cord was missing. I sent an e-mail to their head office who sent an e-mail to the Stockport store. The e-mail got lost and after a while I sent another one. I got an apology for the time it took and a £5 voucher. Excellent. I will be back in their shop spending my pounds. Well done GoOutdoors.

I left some re proofer in the shop accidently. I had paid for it and left it on the counter. When I got home I phoned them and they posted it out free of charge.
The people who work in the shop reaaly know all the infomation about the products and can give alot of good advice.
GoOutdoors is a brilliant shop!!!

Excellent, so you saved on the postage. Tha's £1.50 you owe me!
Ah but Greg, 'cos I bought in store, I had to buy the discount card which cost £4, and then there's half the extra mileage on my journey home, 5 miles @42p. In total £6.10/2=£3.05. Which is £1.55 more than the postage would have been.
I wasn't going to mention it, but you've backed me into a corner. Call it a pint MF.
I forgot, then there's the 14 mile round trip journey to deliver them personally into your sweaty little palm. Plus my time of course.
Guess you're buying ALL the beer for the first world cup match that we watch in the pub.
Most excellent :-P (MF)

I was only joking of course, but now you've upped the ante:- 1)I'd have been quite happy to wait for them. Your choice to collect therefore you must foot any additional expense incurred by your lightweight footwear impetuosity, not forgetting that you'll be getting maximum vfm from that discount card :-o. Cost of this is actually pretty irrelevant compared with 2) below. 2) You can forget the 14 mile round trip as you were coming here anyway to pick up my receipt for my MP3 player so that you can return your £25 MP3 player which you couldn't have done without my receipt because you lost yours (what is it you always say about "a place for everything and everything in it's place"?).
Who are the beers on now, MF?
There's a witty, two-worded reply that springs to mind.
I'll see you down the pub. Beers are still on you though - I did say that I wasn't going to mention it and you did back me into a corner.
I'm assuming the two word reply is "what's yours". Cheers mate.

I've bought online from Go outdoors on a couple of occasions and the service has been top notch..
My bank manager loves it when I shop at Go Outdoors, but SWMBO has restricted my visits so I now have to hide the carrier-bags and receipts.
Top marks for the Coventry store and staff - they always know what they're talking about, they bend over backwards to help, returning goods for exchange or refund has never been a problem.
They do good bacon butties in the cafe as well!
BG. Bacon butties! You've given another reason to visit. May call in tonight as the kids need some gear for camping with the Scouts.
"Oh sorry dear, I thought you said they needed a tent. Guess I'll have to use it then"
What d'ya reckon? Would it work? Nah, thought so.
It's worth a shot, IG. Go for it!
 BG. It worked ;-))
I now have a Vango TBS Tempest 200 in my garden. It was incredibly easy to put up, except that I have two pegs left over and can't figure out where they go :-O
GOoutdoors even internet price matched- I printed the page with the URL, they checked it and I walked away with the tent for £84.99. And yes it's the Vango TBS Tempest in green not the turquoise "Vango Tempest 200" that is totued on some websites.
I'll be under canvass this weekend at Tatton Park. Right under the Mcr Airport flight path. Loverly. Well at least until 06:00 when they start flying again.

Nice one, IG, what did your "dear" say about it?
I got one of those (tent, not "dear") from Go too, excellent kit. I got 4 extra pegs, so nerrr :-P
And now I see that they're doing the TBS Tempest 150 for just £59, and the ME Firewalker UL s/bag for £20, according to the flyer I got in the post today.
Shopping again tomorrow, I guess!

I must admit I do like Go Outdoors but those flyers are terrible. I don't think I need any more kit but the flyer turns up and I immediately start thinking, that's cheap I bet I could find a use for it.
On which subject has anyone ever used one of the Gelert Bivvy bags they're selling for £19? Or does anyone know how much they weigh as it's the cheapest one I've seen, very basic mind you.
