Amazingly the next OM Meet-Up coincides neatly with a Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team fund-raising weekend. Great walking and a good cause too

Oh yes...I'll be there. I just hope that I won't need the aid of those lovely MRT chaps. I quite fancy a pint in the Wasdale Head Inn.

Me too, so watch it Henry, I'm bringing my matches. I'm going to drive up on Friday afternoon from Glossop / Manchester area, so if anyone wants to cadge a lift and can stand my notoriously poor motorcycling-inspired driving drop me an e-mail. jon@outdoorsmagic.com

Looking forward to it and will run a news item on the meet and the MRT fundraising this week.

I'm tryng to arrange one of our neighbouring teams to cover our shouts so that the whole team can come to the bash, however if we do get a shout it will deplete the attending numbers.l I on the other hand will be excused as there is so much organising to do.
I'm starting to get the jiters now, we've never had a matrquee before, never had this mouch gear or advertised this much. I just hope people turn up, if just five ODM members and one sheep turn up I'm going to look pretty bloody stupid!
At least I know you are all coming which is a relief, but please bring your brothers, sisters, neighbours, streets, towns.................................oh eck time for a drink i think!

oh yes and the press, tv radio ect have been contacted but if you can think of any ways to advertise it for free then please feel free to help!

I shall be bringing a small toy sheep called Daisy. She is a shopaholic. If Ben comes he has her brother called Joe.

Don't worry. Most OM members are larger than life anyway (whaddya mean you've noticed?!!!!) ...so we will look like thousands....and drink like thousands....and camp like...

hold that thought

Guy - I'm sending you an email with our school addresses on. Posters needed for staffrooms which reopen tomorrow!

Errr a practical question or two:-

(a) The BBQ on Friday - do we need tickets or pay for food when we get there? What time is it on? Cannot get there too early as coming after work and it's a 2-3 hour drive.

(b) I take it we'll be OK for pub food Saturday nite?

(c) So we just need beer money, brew kit, 2 breakfasts, beer money, 2 packed lunches, beer money and auction chequebooks?

Really looking forward to it!!!

Did we decide yet where & when we are meeting on Saturday morning?

Route for walking? Mixed levels of fitness - I would suggest ny Piers Gill to Lords Rake route with some people may wish to bale out down Brown Tongue route instead of attempting Lords Rake.

"Mixed level of fitness" LOL! I spent the summer pursuing watersports of various flavours with few ascents of pointy things so I need to build my 'mountain legs' back up. Also I am probably going to be the smallest and weediest one there so I'm not racing!

Guy, I'll plug the meet and the fundraiser on the site this week and in the newsletter too.

Jeannie, I have the fitness levels of an aubergine. No-one need worry.

ok the questions:

the food will be on both Fri and Sat nights until 9pm then yo are on your own I'm afraid. The BBQ may turn into a music bash with some other type of food as the BBQ has gone ,missing, BUT whatever happens there willbe food available via the pub. They also serve Bacon butties in the morning but not overly cheap.

Oh and it loks like we may have a gospel choir as well as the band! can you contain yoursleves

and finaly the pub is very strict on closing on time so I suggest a few bottle of wines or whatever for the campsite would be a good idea as well.

I'll be coming and may bring 1 friend. How do we know who you are, (red carnation or rolled up copy of the times under left arm?).
I should arrive on Friday around 6 or 7pm coming from Barnsley at about 4pm through Stockport and then motorways if anyone needs a lift.
I had already planned to go before meet was announced. I would like to do Sca fell by Broad Stand but lack confidence and experience. Is anyone suitably confident and experienced and fancies doing it? What I lack in confidence and experience I more than make up for in bulk and momentum.
