 Sad right enough.
Quite a nicely done wee article.

What a shame. Weir's Way's great. Wish I'd had a chance to meet him.
Free beer for Tom Weir Tom Weir and his wee canvas sack. Three cheers, Tom Weir Tom Weir, king of the anoraks.

I only met him once - a lovely wee fella!
 I'm greetin' :(
What a great guy. I'd have liked to have met him too, preferably in a bothy somewhere.
Well I never met him, but I have some of his books and have managed to catch some episodes of Weir's Way over the years - a genuine enthusiast for mountains and for Scotland.
I met him once too. A very friendly and enthusiastic man. Time to reread some of his books.
Scotland's lost one of its' greatest ambassadors. RIP, wee man.
I'm heartbroken. He was a hero and an inspiration.
 I'm very upset. :o(
He was such a great guy. He had a real love and enthusiasm for the history and land of Scotland. He really seemed to enjoy talking to the people he met in these remote places too. (The interview with Nan Bynack comes to mind!)
It would have been great to have met him, and had a chat.
I'll be having a dram for him tonight.
I see that his close friend Jimmie MacGregor says we should celebrate Ton Weir's life rather than mourn his death, given that he was 91. A dram in his honour is a good idea.
Well said - I'm away for a double-aged Balvenie and a moment of remembrance for a great character.
 It's not a good idea, it's a great idea...
<raises glass of Dalwhinnie Single Malt>
...Cheers Tom!!
Let's hope there's some peaks up there in amongst all those clouds.

Tom Weir was an inspiration to many Scots, so enthusiastic about the hills and Scotland, he will be very sadly missed. I wrote to TGO some time back asking if they would do an article on him. Hopefully something will appear next month.
A mate of mine has made up a desktop "memorial" for me, you can get it on: http://www.sportnetwork.net/boards/read/s2.php?f=95&i=141302&t=141302&sid=2

 James
It's a sad day for Scottish Hillwalking and as you say he was an inspiration to many of us Scots and other alike.
I will have a word with my brother (Clan Chief) and let him borrow the copy of Weir's Way Book that I have.
Yes! James he is my real life brother. although he does not know me on this website.

I've been away on the Hills since Friday and only now have heard the sad news.
Tom Weir was my inspiration to get on the Hills I remember watching his programmes on STV at some ungodly hour as a student. His programmes and love of the outdoors gave me the motivation to get off my arse and get out there. Twenty years later I'm still doing it.
You'll be sadly missed

I only met Tom once, when he picked up his award from the John Muir Trust... a very nice, modest guy brimming with character even at the ripe old age he was then.
Cameron's written a wee piece ( I hate the word obituary as it's a very fond recollection of Tommy's life) for the next issue.
